The Dark Knight Nolan: "Running time comparable to the first film's 140 minutes"

3 hours?!? Dang! If that is true, I think I'm going **** all over my pants. :wow:

I don't care how long it is as long as Nolan is given adaquete time to flesh out his story. But I can see it been shortened somewhat before the end to about 2 and a 1/2 hrs

I base this more on the idea that the source could be bull as opposed to the studio interfering. It seems for once WB has the wisdom to give the director free rein to fufill his vision and it will be all the better for it

3 hours?

3 hours

3?!?!?!

HHHYYYYEAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

I hope those 3 hours will be absolutely amazing, unlike SR (which only had a solid 2 1/2 hours).

Some of my favorite movies are over 165mins for example:

The Godfather 175mins
The Godfather pt. II 200mins
Schindler's List 195mins
Saving Private Ryan 170mins
Lotr 178, 179, 201 (could have cut some of the epilogue)
Gangs of New York 167mins
Casino 178mins
Heat 171mins
Once Upon a Time in America 229mins
Munich 164mins (close enough)

These are all great movies, so I have no problems with long run times, as long as the movie is good, and TDK is looking pretty darn good.

Long run times are fine as long as the story is there to keep it going that long, however, scenes shouldn't just be left in for the sake of it otherwise they risk slowing the momentum of the film.

Oh Yes!!!!
I'm glad, because one of the things that I didn't like about BB was that I felt it was too short!!! I wanted more!!!
So it might end up being 150 minutes, 155 min...who knows...The more TDK the better.
I have a feeling every second of it will be amazing. :)

Well, I think of Nolan's Batman films more like a Action/Adventure/Suspense/Fantasy as opposed to something straight-up Action.

Two hours and twenty minutes is too short?

Yes I realize the movie was 2 hrs and 20 min....I was saying that it felt too short.
By the time the movie ended, I didn't realize the movie went over 2 hrs, it felt like it was less than 2 hrs.
but thats just me.

I'm like that sometimes with movies. But I count that as a testament to how good a film is sometimes. The ones that feel like forever are the ones you want to end

Well with the amount of stuff Nolan filmed, and the consistently quick pace, one can easily see why time flew by quick.

Forgive me.

165 minutes is only 25 minutes longer than Begins and there already seems to be plenty of characters and sublots to fill that extra 25. Don't see anything wrong with bringing it in close to 3 hours.

The only worry i have is that it might effect box office after opening weekend...

It's hard to tell sometimes if the public are comfortable with these kind of lenghty movies or not.

You mean like Titanic or Return of the King?

I wouldn't mind a 3-hour version of TDK... but there better be a good story to warrant the extra half-hour.

And plus in addition to what Flawless Victory said, we have to know how much time the Scarecrow/Jonathan Crane will take up (much less than Joker's I assume). You know, wrap up Cillian Murphy's character once and for all properly.

It felt like it was at least 3 days long

5 minutes tops.
