The Dark Knight Nolan: "Running time comparable to the first film's 140 minutes"

jus the last film

i want long marathon bat films

so much to explore u know!

and so much more interesting!

140 minutes sounds nice for me. I just want to see a lot of the Joker and Two-Face. The more, the better :-)

I'm almost positive that Joker will have around the same amount of screentime he did in Man Who Laughs, and Two-Face will have just a little more screentime than he did in Long Halloween.

Just from set reports and interviews and such.

How can you compare a screentime with a comicbook? Makes no sense...

It makes sense!

At least to me it does. If I'm interpreting it correctly, he's giving an idea of how much the characters will be shown and dominate in the story.

I really doubt WB would allow one of their summer blockbusters to be 3 hours long, but as Saint said earlier, if God does exist, this film will be 3 hours dammit

I agree those feats are impressive. Still, Batman Begins is on par with the more expensive superhero movies. It cost more to make than Blade, Blade II, Blade: Trinity, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: ROSS, Hellboy, Hellboy II, Punisher, X-Men, X2: X-Men United (nevermind movies like 300, Sin City, V for Vendetta, etc.) and it's on par with the costs of Spider-Man and Hulk. That's like 3/4 of the current superhero genre. The only superhero movies that I can think of that really outrank it are Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, Superman Returns, and X-Men: TLS... and those are 4 of the more expensive movies made, let alone superhero movies.

I will say as studios dump more money into this genre, that Batman Begins will probably start to move down lower on that list, but right now it's pretty high up there.

Exactly.

Well, yes, that was my point. For a movie that did not take advantage of CGI and did everything the hard way and more costly way, they did a hell of a job. Of course its budget would be higher than movies with mostly CGI (Fantastic Four, the X-Men movies) and no ridiculous $20 million payouts to actors like Maguire. BTW, Spider-Man 1 cost $140 million in 2002. Adjust that for inflation to 2005 dollars and it's probably more in the $170 million range. Batman Begins was by no means low budget at $135 million, but I'd say Nolan got more bang for his buck than any of the other modern superhero movies considering all the stuff he did in that film, including going to frickin' Iceland!

So now Im hearing this movie is almost 3 hours in some places. I dont know if that is a good thing. Obviously some have said it depends on what is in there, but I did have a concern previously about too many characters and storylines. Granted you could say the same about BB but I wonder if people will make this an issue when it comes out. Could be the one backlash this movie faces (and I have to wonder if there will be one given the tons of love and hype its gotten in advance, it almost seems inevitable).

It all depends on how well the plot flows, if it's done well, 3 hours will sail by.

The storyline with the reporter for instance just seems unneccessary so thats one factor. I get a sense that this film is following the trend of the previous Bat-films where they have given more creative freedom to the director by the second film, and that aint neccessairly a good thing. Having said that, a strong preformance by Ledger serving as a final memory could also swing a positive reception to the film.

No film is perfect but I get what you mean, I don't like superfluous plot elements. If this reporter thing is integrated well into the plot and goes somewhere, I'm game.

When the director is Christopher Nolan, then it's a good thing!

Nice find. Yeah, looks like 150 minutes is the running time. Great!

I hope it's at least 150 minutes... Anything under would be a dissapointment, considering that 8 mins. will probably end credits...

Nice catch there.

2:30rt would rock!

well...if we take the credits into consideration it's just a liittle bit longer than BB !

I expected more but that won't ruin it for me !

Like someone said earlier, the story time will probably stop at around 2:20 hrs because a good 8 to 10 minutes extra will be for the credits at the end.

I hope it'll be something like 155 mins = 145 mins. without credits, you know? :D

Well, that would suck a little bit... MORE, I want MORE!!! :D
