The Dark Knight Nolan: "Running time comparable to the first film's 140 minutes"

You know, I didn't want Batman Begins to end either... Right into the Tumbler chase I was like, damn, I hope this goes on for an hour...

That is exactly how I felt

I'm hesitant to do this, but hopefully it'll compar to other "long" masterpieces like The Godfather.

At least, I hope so, if the buzz around WB is anything to go by. Of course, I know that's probably somewhat skewed.

Woot! :wow:

My cinema just started selling tickets for The Dark Knight, the interesting thing is that there are only 4 sessions, each lasting 3 hours and 10 mins. :wow:

I'd seriously sit through as much Batman as they can throw at me. I don't care if it was 4 hours long, I would just not drink anything during it. I'm seriously going to the bathroom like 5 times before the movie starts cause I literally thought I was going to piss my pants by the end of Indiana Jones. Like I was afraid to stand up and walk because I thought my bladder was going to release itself. So there's no way I'm going through that again with TDK!

Well it's about 2 1/2 hours, and they need about 30 minutes to clean the theater

I hate forgetting to bring nicotine patches to long movies

I don't see the problem with this film being long. It enough to help tell a lot of story on Batman, Joker, & of course, Dent. ;)

yea thats whats great about this movie!!!

althou i did like the origin story from Begins, very well told

The origin story was the best part of Batman Begins and it is easily the strongest origin story in any superhero movie. It's effing amazing. The climax where Ra's tries to destroy the city is nowhere near as great as the origin story. Everything up to and including the Tumbler chase scene is frickin' brilliant. And of course, the final scene on the rooftop was the best ending scene in a superhero movie and my favorite ending scene in ANY movie ever.

I thought Ra's trying to blow up Gotham was an amazing climax, totally on par with the brilliant set up.

I think 152 mins is pretty much confirmed, what do you think? On muvico.com it's 165 mins...

When you're dealing with movies any run time over 2 hours has the potential to feel long. Batman Begins had a brilliant flow to it, never really boring audience, whereas Superman Returns had about enough content for a 100 minute movie.

The question is does the Dark Knight have the content to span over 2 and a half hours and keep its flow? The answer is pretty much yes, especially with all the plot that we know of. This movie will feel like half the length of Superman Returns, even though in all actuality its probably a little bit longer. :)

Thank you Chris Nolan

Exactly... Superman Returns could have PERFECTLY been a 100 minute movie, and maybe it wouldn't have gotten that much hate... No need for 150 minutes - MAN DID THAT MOVIE HAVE A SLOW PACE!!!

It IS Superman Returns... :D

Anyway, what do you think?

165 mins. like muvico.com says, or 152 mins. like the IMAX website and others report?

I'll split the difference (and round up) to say 159 minutes :p

Have we all pretty much come to the conclusion that this 'controversy' than IGN cited about the running time is a bunch of crap? Most people seem to be thrilled about the running time; both, when it was cited as "comparable to Begins' running time" and now that it's listed at 152 minutes.

152.

More sources are claiming its 152, and its a pretty exact number, muvico's 165 might mean from curtain to curtain, in other words the running time might include previews.

Yep. Also, it's been said for months that it would be 152 mins. Remember the guy who posted the runtime (and confirmed the PG-13 rating) in that DVD forum some time ago?

anyone know how early you can buy tickets for TDK for IMAX?
