Actress enters Rod Lurie film.
by IGN Staff
US, July 19, 2007 - Critic-turned-director Rod Lurie (The Contender) has setup his next project with actress Kate Beckinsale in talks for the lead role.
According to Variety, Lurie will direct Nothing but the Truth, a drama he wrote about a Washington, D.C. female newspaper reporter who outs a CIA agent and is imprisoned for refusing to reveal her source. The tale is an obivous riff on real life events surrounding exposed CIA agent Valerie Plame, and New York Times reporter Judith Miller who went to jail to protect her source.
The cast, in addition to Beckinsale, will include Matt Dillon as the prosecutor, Vera Farmiga as the CIA agent, and Sopranos star Edie Falco as the newspaper editor. Alan Alda reportedly plays the attorney who tries to spring the reporter from jail.
The film, backed by Yari Film Group, is set for an October start. That should give it plenty of lead time on a semi-rival Warner Bros. project about the Plame affair.
