Actress enters Rod Lurie film.
by IGN Staff

US, July 19, 2007 - Critic-turned-director Rod Lurie (The Contender) has setup his next project with actress Kate Beckinsale in talks for the lead role.

According to Variety, Lurie will direct Nothing but the Truth, a drama he wrote about a Washington, D.C. female newspaper reporter who outs a CIA agent and is imprisoned for refusing to reveal her source. The tale is an obivous riff on real life events surrounding exposed CIA agent Valerie Plame, and New York Times reporter Judith Miller who went to jail to protect her source.

The cast, in addition to Beckinsale, will include Matt Dillon as the prosecutor, Vera Farmiga as the CIA agent, and Sopranos star Edie Falco as the newspaper editor. Alan Alda reportedly plays the attorney who tries to spring the reporter from jail.
The film, backed by Yari Film Group, is set for an October start. That should give it plenty of lead time on a semi-rival Warner Bros. project about the Plame affair.

Edie Falco post Sopranos.....She is an amazing actress! The rest of the cast is shaping up nicely as well. Is Vera Farmiga the girl from The Departed?

How would Beckinsale describe her character? "She's a working mom. Her marriage is in a lull. Her husband is a novelist, and there are issues of professional jealousy. And this is the biggest story of her career," says Beckinsale between scenes, in a slight British accent that she loses to play Armstrong. "I think, yes, she is a good journalist," and here Beckinsale gives us a throaty laugh, "given that I've always seen you people as the enemy."

Thanks Bastila, good to see this movie is under way.

Aww, I love Alan Alda and Matt Damon. Kate looks really good.

Beckinsale is one of those terribly limi ted british actors that have by some miracle cracked hollywood a bit like keira knightly, orlando bloom who are also terrible im firmly convinced its the fact they are british as the reason why they have even got a peek through the hollywood film door.

beckinsale is beautiful and i love her accept. also i think she does a good job acting . also keira knightly is great.

I like Matt Dillon and Kate obviously so looking forward to this, thanks for the new pictures as well! looks like an interesting film, trailer soon I hope.

If Kiera Knightly is so bad, then how did she get nominated for a Golden Globe? If Orlando Bloom is so bad, then why did he get so much praise for his roles in LotR and PotC?

Source: Moviefone
November 18, 2008

Rod (The Contender) Lurie's latest political drama Nothing But the Truth finally has a trailer over on Moviefone.

Lurie's fourth movie stars Kate Beckinsale as Rachel Armstrong, a Washington, DC reporter who breaks a big story about a female CIA operative (Vera Farmiga) whose investigation into the dealings of a foreign country could hurt the government's current administration. Since it's considered treason to reveal this information, Armstrong is called before a special prosecutor (Matt Dillon) who demands that she reveals her source; when she refuses, she finds out exactly what her country will do to protect its secrets in the name of national security.

You can watch the new trailer over on Moviefone.
