Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

Nah. I really could not care less what that crowd thinks. If a movie looks like crap, it looks like crap.

Man, it is telling that the Sex and the City series isn't getting mentioned...

That trailer could have just been an announcement that Barry will be back in 2022 and I'd be happy.

I thought that the Harry Potter reunion special was A Very Sweet Treat for the fans.

Surprising there wasn’t any publicity for it like the Friends Reunion but I’m guessing they wanted to avoid articles on JK Rowling

The only thing this service is missing is 4K and Dolby vision/atmos for most of its recent content. Come on WB. If Disney can do it so can you.

I thought that the Harry Potter reunion special was A Very Sweet Treat for the fans.
Yeah, it was very nice. I wish it could have been longer - the In Memoriam felt rushed and they skipped over a lot of interesting parts like replacing Dumbledore and Dan doing Equus - but it definitely captured the right magic. And I found it hilarious that not only was Rowling not invited, but her recorded comments were TWO YEARS OLD.

So if they have 70+ M subscribers @ $10-15/ month that means they’re pulling $700M - $1 Billion monthly? Seems like WB doesn’t even need their Movies to be profitable.

So if they have 70+ M subscribers @ $10-15/ month that means they’re pulling $700M - $1 Billion monthly? Seems like WB doesn’t even need their Movies to be profitable.

But that’s just revenue, not profit.

And is that 70+M subscribers a combination of HBO Max and people who have it as part of their cable package? WB/HBO has always done that to make their subscribers look bigger.

One factor that would drag down their profits a tad is that WB has/had a *lot* of outstanding contracts with other services for streaming. They don't have usage of their own catalog free and clear, not to the same extent Disney or even Netflix does.

Something tells me the simurelease™ strategy is going to be tweaked but not completely thrown out in 2022.
I can see them dropping their new releases on HBO Max 30-45 days after they're released theatrically depending on the movie but it'll be more of a case by case type of thing compared to what they did going into 2021. For example, if The Batman is the monster hit that WB wants it to be, they're going to keep that as a theater exclusive as long as possible.

I hope so tbh. The only WB release I actually paid theater money for was Dune. The rest I was happy to watch at home.
The only two WB movies I saw in theaters last year were The Suicide Squad and Dune. I would have also seen Godzilla vs. Kong in theaters but I wasn't yet fully vaccinated at the time and I might have also seen The Matrix Resurrections in theaters had the Omicron variant not been a thing. While I did like The Suicide Squad, Dune in IMAX was really the only one that was worth seeing in theaters. WB had a mostly weak slate in 2021.

I only paid to see Dune and The Suicide Squad in theaters and thank goodness I did because almost everything else was so bad or mediocre that I would have been upset if I paid.

My wife has utilized HBO Max mostly for documentaries. Last year I think I've watched Godzilla v. Kong, ZS JL, TSS, Dune and Matrix Resurrection. Even if it I assumed a ticket price of $13 a ticket, it doesn't really feel unless I take into account we both watched it, that HBO Max is the best bang for your buck.

HBO Max is going for the Canadian audience, picking up ALL of Degrassi and greenlighting a new series.
