Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

That's ****ing terrifying
Under the new deal, Warners will leverage the system’s comprehensive data and predictive analytics to guide decision-making at the greenlight stage. The integrated online platform can assess the value of a star in any territory and how much a film is expected to make in theaters and on other ancillary streams.

Tech bros trying to kill art once again.

Edit: Wait, that's from 2020? Well that explains all the garbage they've released in the last three years in which they're not making any money from :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Great. As if the MCU using AI to entirely create their own shows' intros now (*cough* Secret Invasion *cough*) rather than pay actual artists to make them wasn't bad enough.

Stuff like this is why I feel like it's becoming more and more important to buy physical media. It's something tangible, you can say you own and not have to worry about it being taking away at a moment's notice (looking at you Netflix and MAX).

I kind of hope the pendulum swings back and we do see a resurgence. Like with vinyl, or more recently cassette tapes.

At the beginning of the pandemic, I was excited about getting HBO Max. It seemed like something too good to be true. It's disappointing to see what it has become.

Absolutely 0% that their algorithim isn't racist.

It does make some of their more recent greenlighting decisions make more sense.

There are literally shows that would've become lost media because they haven't had a physical release after cancellation, were it not for piracy of all things preserving them ironically enough.

Not even just cancellation. A ton of Dr Who episodes are lost because the masters were in a fire, and some only exist because of VHS recordings.

Each day it just gets worse. Physical media is king.

2010-2015: There's 3 major streaming platforms (Netflix, Prime, and Hulu) with some odd major and cable network offshoot (CBS All Access, HBO Now, Showtime) that all the major media companies license their content for streaming.

Probably next year: There's 3 major streaming platforms (Netflix, Prime, Disney+) with some odd major and cable network offshoot (Peacock, Paramount+, Starz, MGM+) that all the media companies license their content for streaming.

Time is a circle.
