Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

Oh, brother... Just when you think "MAX" (dumb name) can't get worse, it does. It's like WB Discovery hates money because they're doing everything to drive people away.

And as for CNN Max... If you know how regular CNN is with "breaking news", picture that but doing your program/movie.

You'll be interrupted every couple minutes.

Well friends, I canceled my Max subscription today. Way too expensive to not have any original content I like.

I kept it for now. It still has enough old content I enjoy to make it worth it.

If I wasn't already doing that with Disney+ (watching old content), I'd keep Max. When my kids get old enough to watch the more mature DC content, I may sign back up.

And yet you aren’t paying your talent for it either

Disgusting :barf:

The entire original promise of streaming was to warehouse these massive collections of work so that they would always be available. And now these losers are gonna throw it all in the trash because they can't comprehend allowing something to exist if it isn't creating profit.

Annnnnnnnd they just canceled 'Winning Time.'

I'm very worried this is just the start of Zaslav and co. using the strikes as an excuse to take a flamethrower to their scripted television output. HBO is in danger.
For **** sake.

Winning Time would've been canceled with or without Zaslav. It didn't hit in the ratings compared to its budget (I read somewhere that s1 went pretty over budget but can't find that source again). It didn't really make a mark in pop culture (social media chatter for the show dwindled as time went on). And it got no awards love. Why keep a show like that?
Even in HBO's heyday it would've been gone.

And in regards to the strike: s2 was filmed before the strike and with how it was paced it was clear they were told to speed run through some things because they might not get a s3. Adding to that, how little it was advertised.

It was clear it was a sinking ship after s1 got almost shut out at the Emmys and Globes. TV channels keep shows for their ratings relative to their budget or their awards cache. Winning Time had neither

I was going to say the same thing. Winning Time was in danger regardless. Ratings were low, it wasn't getting any awards, the budget was too high and nobody was talking about it. Even on these boards, the only time anyone's posted in the thread for it since S1 ended was with the cancellation news today.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max turned in the highest total customer satisfaction rating among U.S. subscription-streaming services, according to the results of Whip Media’s 2023 Streaming Satisfaction Report.

Max (then HBO Max) also topped Whip Media’s study last year. Even so, this year Max fell 6 points (out of 100) to 88%, from 94% in 2022. Disney’s Hulu came in at No. 2 and Disney+ was No. 3 in the ranking. Whip Media, an entertainment data and analytics provider, compiled the weighted rankings based on a survey of 2,011 U.S. adults...
Max also leads in satisfaction among subscription-streaming services for the quality of original content, variety of original content and the perceived value of the service.

Always said MAX or whatever it's called, is the best in terms of content. Unless you only like supercape stuff it has a much wider variety of films and it has some of the best TV shows of all time. Hulu is also great for its TV selection

Regardless, some on the lot are convinced that another company, most likely Universal, will buy Warner Bros. within two years, making recent DC subplots and upheavals feel quaint.

“The bottom line is they need to get DC to work whether Zaslav owns it, whether Brian Roberts owns it, whether somebody else owns it,” says LightShed’s Rich Greenfield, a Wall Street analyst and venture capitalist.

The ens****tification continues.

Pay more, get less. That's Max.
Yeah I saw that and I was ticked...but I can't leave HBO haha.

Netflix I'm gone after the New Year. But HBO has too much quality

I don't get why they did it then? It's like they are scamming themselves.
