Film Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

General Film

Maybe now they have enough money to fix the app. Still crashes on occasion and the UI could use some work.
What kind of crashes have you been experiencing @samsnee ? The only one that's been constant for me lately is that I can't download multiple episodes at the same time from the iPhone app otherwise it crashes. This is a fairly recent thing. At first I thought it meant that I had to update the app but after checking the app store it's up to date. It's annoying but a minor inconvenience at most. I haven't had any trouble as far as watching content on the app.

Yes I get that one. I also downloaded The Batman to watch on the plane the next day. But when I tried watching it, it kept saying “no cellular connection” even though it shouldn’t matter with a download.

I'm also having some issues with the app on my TV. I was watching The Batman, and kept getting audio glitches throughout the movie. It would go away if I paused the movie for a second, but it happened 4 or 5 times, so that's pretty annoying. I never had any problems like that with Netflix or Prime.

Is the sound for The Batman really low for everyone else? I had to turn my sound bar up a lot more than usual just to hear normal dialogue.

It’s sad that HBO Max is my favorite streaming app, but the UI/UX is a nightmare. It takes forever to download anything, but even then, there’s no guarantee it’ll play. That on top of almost 6 months of not being able to expand the aspect ratio on my phone. I hope when this merges with Discovery+ they try to mimic some of Netflix’s design choices.

I've actually had that sound issue for a lot of WB films, not just on HBO Max but on Blu-rays too.

Last Night in Soho is on there now! It was my favorite movie last year by far.

...honestly just give me an A24 app, make it super sexy and clean.

Unfortunately a lot of those movies are from early A24 days so not as good.

HBOMax is on the verge of greatness here and Discovery seems to be crashing into their purchase like Chapek crashed into Disney. Hopefully it works out, but it is concerning. And really ****** for international customers.
This is what always scared me about Mr Food Network taking over.

Haven't seen many of them, so I'll be checking them out. Ex Machina, Locke and Room are greats. A Most Violent Year and Slow West pretty good. And I've heard strong things about Under the Skin, Spectacular Now, Obvious Child, Enemy, Rover and Mississippi Grind.

And hopefully we'll keep moving past 2016 as the newer contracts start freeing up. Would be a HUGE win for HBO to brand themself as A24's streaming home going forward.

HBO Max has been great. As long as they have HBO's content they're golden.

I never got the hate (on here mostly) about the library. They're library has always been good.

HBO Max is the best streaming service out there IMO. Definitely beats Netflix and Disney…although I’m starting to get into Hulu more.

HBO Max is my favorite and I subscribe to several services. So many cool movies (even though a lot of those include movies from the past that I haven't seen yet), plenty of interesting TV series, and you just can't beat having the DC ANIMATED UNIVERSE on there too. :hehe: (well that and live-action stuff from the past too, even if it doesn't yet include everything that's ever been made, but hopefully it will)

Yeah Hulu I probably use the most out of all streaming services because they have the best casual viewing shows. But once that NBCUniversal and Paramount deal is up, they'll lose a lot of good stuff and a lot of their appeal to me.
They'll still have FX stuff which is great and their movie selection is decent. But with little to no casual viewing shows for me and they've never been great with their original shows (other than Handmaiden's Tale all of their good originals have already ended imo) I can see my usage dropping a lot for Hulu
