Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

Zaslav on Scripted Drama: "It's like a kid's soccer game - everyone saw something that worked and started chasing the ball. It's way too expensive."

I cannot comprehend thinking that way about scripted tv - the definitive root of the medium for all of its history. And he's talking about it like its some lame fad. :cmad:
This is such a disgusting quote.

Why even buy a ****ing film studio if you're just going to put someone in charge that doesn't like or respect anything the industry they're in. This whole situation is just so gross.

For all supposed WB & DC miscasts, endlessly discussed in every corner of the internet, this one is probably the biggest and truest.

Why separate out streaming products? Doesn’t it just make it less convenient?

Magnolia Network Shows on HBO Max and CNN Shows On Discovery+ as Warner Bros. Discovery Keeps Streaming Services Separate, for Now – The Hollywood Reporter

HBO Max gets Magnolia Network shows, Discovery+ gets CNN. Also, rumors are that TCM will be spun off to it's own streaming channel. So I guess there are no immediate plans to merge HBO Max with Discovery+ which seems incredibly dumb. Adding yet another streaming service to the mix is just outright psychotic.
Keeping them separate makes sense. It will most likely make them the most money. I honestly think it's hard to combine the two, beaus they are so different. HBO is a very specific brand and so is Discovery's trash television. The TCM idea would would be extremely stupid.

The Magnolia Network thing made me giggle. As one who has had Discovery+ here and there for a buck when there is a deal, the ads for that were always so confusing. Like, "WHAT ARE YOU!?"

Honestly, right now I'm just happy HBO Max isn't going away. Now it's time to worry about the shows.

The TCM idea is just internal talks for now, but if they do decide on it I’m sure it will be down the road when HBO Max and Discovery merges. For now, HBO Max and Discovery+ stays separate (which isn’t surprising since the service merger will take a while).

Just checked, it's not there.

This sh** is why some piracy is justified.
Thanks Kane. Couldn't check from where I was. This is just... ****!

Looking at the apparent savings on Batgirl and Scoob, and I have to say, it sounds like they are in all time penny pinching mode. Like more hassle and probably will do more damage in both the short and long term, then it is is worth.

Is this true?

It does not appear to pop up in my search. Which is a concern, as that means HBO Max stuff isn't the only one they may disappear.

One more plus for Paramount, as they still seem to support physical releases.

Who knows, maybe Zaslov really is like Trump and he is scared of firing people? [shrug]

Great news if all the staff cuts aren’t happening.
Some will definitely happen. They will probably throw a bunch of the "reality" stuff in the bin and their dedicated movies for HBO Max stuff. I'm just hoping the big important stuff, the television, survives.

It seems how they count subs has changed, and it's effect their numbers:
