October 2006 Sales Chart

Jeez, 52 is whipping ass. I hope the industry notices that people like regularity on deadlines. Then again, freaking New Avengers reinforces the opposite.

Still, very impressive feat. I never thought a weekly comic would work like that.

Haha, dude you wanna talk deadlines?9 or 10 big name DC titles didn't even ship this month:

Batman
Superman
Superman/Batman
Green Lantern
Wonder Woman
Teen Titans
Supergirl
All Star Superman
All Star Batman
JLA

I hope DC doesn't have more months like this.I've been enjoying alot of the titles I've been reading recently, but this month was just hurting.

Not to crap on DC at all,52 was in the top 5.

Owie. I miss filler issues and guest artists. :(

Yeah, realistically 52 would of been around 12th overall if it wernt for all the delays.

Wolverine: Origins #7 is in ninth place? But it sucks SO BAD!:csad:

On the plus side, Captain America #23 is way up. I love that book so much.

I doubt that.

I dont, Batman, JLA, Civil War, ASM tie-in, etc wouldve outsold 52 easily. Maybe not 12, 9-13, around there.

Theyve been selling between 5-9 the last few months on further review.

EDIT: Who the **** is buying Wolverine: Origins?

That Ant Man debut isn't looking so good.

I am...both copies. :oldrazz: :oldrazz:

Obviously, good word of mouth does little for sales. Exiles, Runaways, and especially Beyond are way down on the list, and they are all so much better than a lot of the books above them.

NEW AVENGERS selling at #1. What a surprise.

As usual, the biggest disappointments are seeing what great Marvel books are doing so low on the list. DR. STRANGE: OATH #1 debuted at #42, and as the first issue is usually the best selling for mini's, that's not good news. IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN #1 debuted at #62; any debut past the Top 50 is rather abysmal, and we should be lucky if this book lasts to issue #12. Books tend to bleed thousands of readers a month until they either fine a sustainable niche or drop into oblivion. RUNAWAYS is an example of this; yes, it deserves to sell much better than at #87 of the Top 100, but it's hovered within #85-90 for a good year now, which means it has a stable readership. It's not a big one, but it's not sinking fast like, say, BEYOND!, whose 5th issue is at #95 and may be lucky to still be in the Top 100 by the conclusion.

Proving there is no justice, a book that had a 10 month gap between issues #5 and #6, HUNTER/KILLER, has changed artists twice to maintain it monthly now, and actually is decent; but is right at #100. Whereas, we know DAREDEVIL: FATHER will sell within the Top 30. Of course, it's also a Top Cow/Image book and any book that's not Marvel or DC making the Top 100 at all is a challenge these days. INVINCIBLE's not seen the Top 100 in maybe half a year or longer. Sniffle.

On the upside, both INVINCIBLE and RUNAWAYS sell well in trades.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS #2 is at #53, falling 3 slots since last month and losing a few thousand readers. Ironically, a more fun book than WARSONG, but selling far worse. I know the X-Line is horribly overexposed, but again, a shame it's not doing better. By issue #8 it may be in the 70's. And ANNIHILATION not able to crack the Top 40? Boo!

CW: CHOOSING SIDES sold at #20, which is pretty good for it's pricetag. But I still think it would have sold a few slots higher had it been cheaper. Still, we won't see if it had any effect on ANT-MAN's sales until next month.

And yes, 52 is continuing to be a big hit for DC, especially with so many other titles of their's late (since half their writing staff, literally, is on 52).

For the record, NEXTWAVE would be Marvel's poorest selling ongoing, but it's been slated to end at #12, so it's just a dead book walking, like MTU was.

52 definitely deserves the recognition, that's a great series.

Well I know I have been faithfully getting Wolverine: Origins, New Avengers, 2 X-Men titles, and just about anything CW and Annihilation.

Nice to see my contribution amounts to something....unless I want a book on time.

Hey.... Amazing Spider-Girl #1 kicked in at #36... :word:  :word:

The best Marvel book that nobody buys...

I don't ever remember NA being excessively late. In fact, NA#1 shipped 12/15/04, which means that #25 should be due around 12/16/06.

Some of the various Finch issues ended up months late, but NA sorted itself out.

And low and behold, MOON KNIGHT under Finch is usually 2-3 weeks late per issue.

He's just one of those artists who literally cannot deliver monthly work on time and so Marvel should really not even pretend that he can, and claim whatever book he is on will be a bi-monthly and go from there. I'm not knocking his art, just calling reality. Cassaday's art is beautiful but he couldn't draw a book monthly for longer than 2 months at gunpoint. I know people hunt to give Marvel a hard time, but Marvel could help themselves by owning up to problems right away vs. just waiting until they become a real hassle and being forced to go back on previous statements.

Yes, your contribution to the decline of quality comics is noted.

Hey, he said he buys ANNIHILATION books. :o

Besides, NEW AVENGERS is like a primer for the MU. Whatever direction it's headed in a given year turns up in that title. It's like Previews with a plot.
