Reports like this leaves me wondering what the heck Nintendo was thinking by release this thing so soon. I mean, advertising for it has been VERY poor... I've seen next to no commercials or even print ups for it in magazines.

They are waiting until they get a few more games out there and closer to the holiday season, then they start advertising to the main stream and sales will increase dramatically. They want to get all the early adopters out of the way and have time to get a good stock of them made, that way when they do start the advertising anyone who wants one can just go out and get it.

Yes they should have waited to release it, since there are no games and a lot of the system features don't work yet, but it will not hurt them in the long run if they just hold off before letting the general public know about the system (which they don't right now).

Also, a lot of people who do read about this stuff daily and knew about this system since E3, are waiting because of the really bad battery, $250 price tag, and extremely lackluster lineup. The only games announced that I am at all interested in is the new Layton and the new Mario. I have no interest in playing through Ocarina or Star Fox again and games like Metal Gear and Resident Evil will probably just make me miss my tv. I also know that Nintendo constantly makes new/better iterations of their handhelds, so I am holding off until gen 2 at least.

Well I ended up with a 3DS for my birthday today. Unfortunetly I did not end up with a 3DS game yet. Got Pokemon White with it, which was still soemthing I wanted. It does suck a lot of features don't work yet, but the system itself is very nice. I'm so afraid of dropping it or something. The old bulky DS looked like it could take beating, but this looks as brittle as an Iphone, so I am definately going to attempt to take care of it.

The overlay is nice and the early features are fun to play with, so once I build up some cash I will get a couple of the better early games.

I got the American Pokemon B & W games when I bought my 3DS on the account that the actual 3DS titles are what they are.

i caved and got one today - only cost me £20 though as I traded in all my 360 and wii games that i no longer play (accumulated since 2006) and some dvds too

got pro evo and ghost recon

loving it so far

you should have traded in your Wii since it looks like the new Nintendo system is coming next year

yeah but my little sis still plays on the wii so it wouldnt have been fair (even though it is mine) i leave it at my parents when im at uni so she can play on it

I really like the 3ds - mine had 2 dead(?) pixels that were permanently white so i took it back - they said they couldnt exchange for dead pixels so i kicked up a fuss saying if im spending that much money (even though i technically didnt) it should be perfect - they disagreed so in the end i told them i wanted to return it under their 21 day returns policy and then bought another 3ds (different colour so they didnt just give me the old one back)

What a friggin hassle. They should've just taken it back to begin with.

well according to them "it happens with a few of any new handheld system" - errrm thats great but those ones shouldnt be sold at full price if theres a defect no matter how small - i have an iphone and that manages not to have any dead pixels - in fact my gameboy, gbc, gba, and ds 1st gen never seemed to get dead pixels even now so no way am i putting up with them

tbh they were 2 small pixels but once id seen them i could never unsee them and it was just annoying as hell - if it happened after 2 years then fair enough but fresh out the box

Details.......by Myamoto-san

Shigeru Myamoto made an appearance in Paris earlier this week to speak with the press. The creator of Mario discussed upcoming titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D, and Mario Kart 3DS. Miyamoto also discussed game ideas that Nintendo is considering for the 3DS and indicated that the system could be used to connect to Nintendo’s future home console. You can check out all of the details from the event below.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
- Game development complete
- Nintendo checking translations for the game
- Ocarina of Time 3D is an improved version
- Original game ran at 20 FPS, this version runs at 30 FPS
- Another confirmation of Boss Mode, Master Quest with everything in reverse (mirror mode) and enemies appear/move in different ways

Star Fox 64 3D
- Star Fox 64 development complete
- Will be called by the same title in all countries (indicates no more Lylat Wars)

Super Mario 3D
- Under intensive development
- Combination of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros
- Full reveal at E3
- Fixed camera system
- The camera system is somewhat like the one in Super Mario 64
- Camera doesn’t move and Mario walks around on the screen
- You will really feel the depth according to Miyamoto
- This method brings dynamism to the staging of the game
- Game mechanics will impress and entertain
- Tail in the Super Mario 3D logo is a raccoon tail

Mario Kart 3DS
- Reconfirmed for 2011

Miyamoto’s 3DS game idea
- Nintendo experimenting with several new 3D concepts
- Miyamoto testing a game in which the player must discover which object is being displayed by moving it in different ways, in order to see the different facets
- An object that looked like something could prove to be completely different after all
- Miyamoto wants to use 3D to make the players feel surprised

Another game idea
- Nintendo is also testing a game in which an image is only visible to the left eye
- Another image is only visible to the right eye
- Concept could be used for a ghost game
- Player would not necessarily see what is coming in front of him
- Miyamoto loves ghost stories

3DS controller
- Nintendo thinking about potential connectivity between the 3DS and the company’s next home console
- 3DS could be used as a controller
- Nintendo testing many ideas

Only the "3DS could be used as a controller" made me go WTF as it totally goes against the "Wii2" controller screen.
Super Mario 3D at E3 is already expected, it will be big 3DS title for the holiday season

Good. I already have a controller then for my Project Cafe before it comes out (the 3DS!)...so I'll already have 2 (the actual controller that comes with the system).

Haven't been this excited for a Mario game in YEEEEEAAARS. SMB3 nostalgia for 2011. Hope they bring back the Tanooki Suit over just the plain Raccoon Mario power.

A combination of Super Mario 64, Mario Galaxy, and NSMB... sounds like the greatest Mario ever.

Damn, this holiday season is gonna be awesome. Ocarina of Time mid-summer, then (hopefully) Skyward Sword, Super Mario 3DS and Mario Kart... plus whatever else might be debuted at E3. Plus, Star Wars Blu-Ray in the fall.

Nintendo needs to pump out some classic Nintendo titles for this thing. The Mario game sounds great and the OoT is a no brainer, but I say again... they should have waited on the launch. It seems as if they just pushed it out the door to get it out with little hype and next to no worthwhile games.

That's not Nintendo. That's Sony. :p

That's pretty much every game system. Usually at launch you have one or two decent games, and the rest is just filler until the stuff you want comes out. I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that the initial launch for any system was balls.

Well the 3DS is a rarity in that 1) none of the launch games available are worth getting a 3DS, and 2) an extention of reason 1, but for the 1st time in Nintendo history, we don't have a Nintendo-1st party must-have launch game. F'instance...

NES - Super Mario Bros.
GB - Tertis
SNES - Super Mario World
GBC - Tetris DX
N64 - Super Mario 64
GBA - Super Mario Advance
GC - Luigi's Mansion (must-have???)
DS - Super Mario 64 DS
Wii - Wii Sports & Twilight Princess
3DS - Uhhh...Pilotwings Resort...?

I...don't really think Luigi Mansion was a must-have, honestly :O

And, yeah, I guess that's true of the last two launches, too, but since TP was on the GCN and Super Mario 64 DS was a remake, it's kind of diluted. It's still the same rules, though, Pilotwings Resort is good, right :o

Its a good app. Its hardly a game. But I got it so I could have a 1st-party title for my Nintendo system. It felt wrong having a Nintendo system with no Nintendo property title.

Every single Pilotwing has been a launch title for whatever system it was released on, always accompanying a Super Mario title. 3DS being the exception.

Yeah, GC and 3DS have had the worst launch list... to me anyway. I never cared that much for Luigi's Mansion, and I played all I needed of Pilotwings at the store. Like I said before, they really should've waited until this summer, and released it with OoT. A friend of mine got one at launch, and the only game she's liked has been Lego Star Wars.

I'm still hoping they might have a sweet Zelda bundle, with a special color or something.

Like a Forest Tunic green colored 3DS bundled with OoT

If one N64 master-classic can be rereleased as a launch title for one DS (Mario 64), then Ocarina's release as launch title for the 3DS would have been poetic. If not LoZ, then why not a demo of Kid Icarus Uprising? Ya know, the flagship title, the very 1st game announced for the 3DS? Or ANY sort of Mario title, be it a Mario Kart, a Mario Party, or just a Mario app...

Exactly.

It really just seems like Nintendo rushed this thing out. I'm not saying it's trash... or that it sucks, I'm saying from a business stand point it didn't make sense to launch it with what? Steel Diver and Nintendogs?

The summer is known for it's gaming drought, companies won't start releasing big games until September (maybe late August) and Nintendo could have changed that with the 3DS launch and a crapton of games.

I expect a Zelda bundle but if we get a different color it won't be forest green... it will be "I don't really want to play this in public Gold" lol.

There are those colors that were shown last year at E3s and GDCs or whatever Nintendo used to display the 3DS that we haven't gotten, like red.

Luigi's Mansion was the greatest thing ever to me, and honestly, the ghost game ideas seem to be hinting at a sequel to that by Miyamoto.

I always liked Luigi's Mansion. It was a classic LoZ style game (the Mansion was one big dungeon) mixed with a bit of Ghostbusters.
