US Launch titles... Maybe?

Metal Gear Solid: 3DS
Legend of Zelda: OoT
Mario Kart

???? I dunno, complete speculation on my part... but those are three games I know I'd buy at launch. :)

We had some fun with that in a chatbox over at the Monster Hunter Wikipedia forums. That and the Giant Enemy Crab spiel.

Anyways, I heard a rumor that was claimed to come from the Capcom president himself about Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (Freedom 3) coming to the 3DS.

Hope so... Zelda and Mario Kart are the perfect first party launch titles. If they did an OoT bundle, they'd sell twice as many.
 
If those are the launch titles I'll probably just go with Mario Kart. While I appreciate what they're doing with MGS and Zelda, I'm not really interested in revisiting those games right now.
 
MGS3 is one of my favorite games... ever. I seriously believe it's one of the best games ever made, same with OoT.

So... They'd have me hooked. :p
 
It's really the launch games that will decide if I get a 3DS right outta the gate. With no Zelda or Mario Kart there'd really be no reason for me having one just yet.

Unlike the GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, and DS before it, Nintendo's next handheld may not play nice with games outside of its designated region. A report on Korean gaming site RuliWeb details an alleged interaction between Nintendo customer support in Japan and an individual inquiring about 3DS region locking. The supposed Nintendo Japan support officer specifically spells out, "There are no region codes in DS and DS Lite, but DSi, DSi [XL], and 3DS have region codes. The region codes are installed in each game and the 3DS itself ... you can't play if the region codes are different."

As Tiny Cartridge points out, the DSi and DSi XL both include a form of region locking in that DSi systems can only access their own region's DSi Shop, and DSi-enhanced releases (read: games that use the camera, among other things) are locked to the region in which they're released. The 3DS's region locking sounds like it works the same way: the alleged Nintendo rep spells out, "For example, if you play a Korean 3DS game with a Japanese 3DS system (or vice versa), you won't be able to play at all." Nintendo had yet to respond to request for comment as of publishing.

I would just like to know if decent games are in the works for 3DS before I fork out money for one... And I don't want to ever use a stilus. lol, I'm surprised Nintendo isn't developing a DS app for android/apple
 
I can't see it having a strong launch at that price. That's the price of a Wii when it first came out and the Wii is cheaper now.

I just don't see people rushing out to buy a handle held that costs more than the core hardware of the company. But who knows, never say never.
 
You underestimate the power of the DS name. Seriously. The PSP was launched at $250 with games at $40-50 in 2005. We are 2011 now and the price is in the same range.

It's crazy to expect it to sell for less.
 
Well, I will be waiting to get this one. $249.99 is a bit pricey for me

It will sell b/c of the 3D novelty.

I'll wait until there's a bundle or discount. I'll be too busy with Pokemon White.
 
Yeah, I'll wait till next year. You know a cheaper lite version will be out by then. Plus, I'd like to make sure it will not cause eye issues.
 
Yeah, I figured that would be the pricepoint whenever the Japanese got priced. I'll probably wait it out, too. Though, I hope MML3 will also be a little later, so I won't have to wait too long.
 
I'm glad it's 250 and not 300, but I'm still going to hold of until the 3DSlite, where they will fix the battery life and adjust any design kinks they didn't spend enough time thinking about... God the first DS was an ugly piece of portable.

And some people didn't report any sickness after playing it. I used to get bad headaches playing the N64 for a long time. I don't anymore.

I think waiting to see the effects from long term use is the way to go before I
jump in and buy one.

No one knows for sure the effects of playing it until research is conducted. Besides, you can turn off the 3D effect if it bothers you.

I'm looking at this as more than just a hand held, this is a borderline new console.

  1. I'll give you that.
  2. The point is that this is new tech and if there are people getting sick, I'd like to wait and see why and if it could happen to me.
  3. I suggest you read the article, because that is not the case. The doc. states anyone could develop issues regardless of age.
  4. Why would I buy a system that I could not use one of it's main features? That's why I am going to wait and see. I think it looks like a great system, but the new tech they are using makes me a bit cautious. That and the high price (IMO) pushes me to the "wait for the lite version" side of the fence. :up:
 
I want it but I don't know if I'll get it right away. There are a CRAP ton of PS3 games coming out until like... Summer, so... we'll wait and see.
 
My main reasons for this system at the moment are RE: Revelations, Mercenaries, and Megaman Legends 3. I'll be waiting much later to get it.
