It is supposed to be set in Detroit, but it is actually shot in Canada. You can't always expect a tv show to give an accurate representation of all the different ethnic groups living in a certain city can you? Unless a certain ethnic group or ethnic characters are written into the script then it is very apparent that you probably won't be seeing much of these people on the show.

It seems to me that there has been a more even racial makeup among humans. However, like the movies, the vampire underworld--the purebloods in particular--are mostly white.

I can't recall any street scenes but I can remember seeing some diverse crowds in some of the club scenes.

I can't say i've actually seen any blacks walking around the street, at anytime, during the show. If i didn't know better, i'd sat Detroit was a white area.

There were a lot of black people in the flashback to the '70s... not sure where they all went in the last 20 years.

the Metro Detroit Area has alot of chaldeans there, and we dont have many hispanics, thats prob why you wouldnt see them walking down the street.
