Mad Men is, indeed, incredible. I got into it a little late, (cheers for that BBC) but I fell in love with it instantly.

On a side note, I wish I was more like Don Draper. :csad:

It's sad how few people posted in this thread.

Are we the only ones on this board who love this excellent series?

JUST finished watching the whole first season on DVD. Fantastic, fantastic show! Probably the best thing on TV in a while.

I'll be watching Sunday.

Groovy. Thanks for the heads up.

Just a friendly bump to remind everyone that season 2 begins tonight!

Please watch. :)

That ending was aces. I wish we could have seen exactly how
Peggy dealt with her kid and Betty and Don resolved their relationship
but they did a great job of showing just how much the world has started to pass these people by. I love it. Can't wait for them to get more in depth.

Highlights:

-Pete and his wife. "It's their little club."
-Don and Peggy going from "sex sells" to "you are the product" "What did you bring me, daddy?" DAMN.
-Don's letter at the end. Floored me.

Well, I can't remember where exactly, but I heard that...
Peggy and Pete's kid makes a surprise appearance at the office in episode 2, so...I guess we might see soon enough.

Was it just me or was there some serious flirting going on between Joan and that black guy who delivered the copier? I wonder how far that will go? And if it goes too far, I can't imagine it going over too well with her coworkers in 1962.

I definitely caught the flirting on his end. I couldn't tell whether she was reciprocating or repulsed.

Repulsed, it looked like to me.

And what about Mrs. Draper with the repairman? I was sure something very dirty was going to happen on that road.:o

I'm still kinda surprised she's still Mrs. Draper. I was also sure she was gonna give it up.

Yeah, I was wondering how far she was willing to go for that fan belt!

I missed the conversation with the black repairman so I'll have to catch it later.

Me too, actually. And I'm pretty sure Don was meant to think the same thing, or at least come to that conclusion next episode.

Another great moment: "I wish you would just tell me what to do" and when Don sighs. Soooooooo brilliant.

I like the tension that's building between Joan and Mrs. Olsen now that she has moved up. And I also wonder if the two new ad men are going to help (I forget what's his name, the artist) come out.

Eh, I wouldn't want Sal to climb out of the closet just yet. It's still a bit early in the series for that, wouldn't you say?

WAY too early. I'd like to see him emboldened to move around more inside the closet, but in the 1960's he would still lose his job in a heartbeat and he knows it.

No one seems to be in the same place they were during season 1. Joan and Peggy were friends. Don was banging three women and now he's having trouble in that department. Sal was very apprehensive about his sexuality in the first season. I didn't expect it to happen next episode or anything. I don't think he'll be wearing pink bowties (whatever that means), but I think he might actually experiment at some point this season. Maybe a kiss or something like that. I'm fairly sure the two new guys will be fired and made fun of when the office finds out. That'll keep him in the closet most likely and he'll probably hang out with Lois more to hide it.

Of course.

I lol'd at that.:woot:

Well, sure. I didn't mean he couldn't have any kind of relationship with someone. I just think it would be best if he would keep it a secret. For me I think it's way too early for some kind of, "Hey everyone, I'm gay!" type of a moment. That's all.

Oh, and Sandman, in regards to your comment earlier about how this episode is showing how the world is beginning to pass these guys by...

A scene I really like in this episode was the elevator scene. Those two young guys were being pigs in front of that woman, talking about getting his girlfriend wet and whatnot. Anyway, Don forced them to take their hats off and shut up. His own way of being chivalrous, but to those two young guys Don appeared pretty antiquated.

Basically that scene really underlined how that period of formality and manners is starting to come to an end.

And that is going to set the grounds for the women's rights movement.

AMC's Mad Men Bags Nearly 2 Mil. Viewers in Second-Season Debut

AMC's Mad Men
Don Draper may become a household name after all.

The brooding centerpiece of AMC’s critically acclaimed original series Mad Men returned to the tube Sunday night to his biggest audience yet, as the season two premiere averaged nearly 2 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research fast nationals data.

The 10 p.m. debut––which also happened to be competing directly with ESPN’s coverage of the final installment of a three-game series between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox––more than doubled its first-season average, drawing 1.95 million viewers versus the year-ago 915,000.

Among the network’s key demos, Mad Men served up 996,000 adults 25-54, up nearly 25 percent versus the season-one average, and 955,000 viewers 18-49, a 22 percent improvement versus the prior 13-episode average.
