Oprah Winfrey Ends Her Talk Show

Effeminate and gay are not the same thing. :whatever:

But of course. I wasn't aware of what you meant.

ef⋅fem⋅i⋅nate  /adj. ɪˈfɛmənɪt; v. ɪˈfɛməˌneɪt/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [adj. i-fem-uh-nit; v. i-fem-uh-neyt] adjective 1. (of a man or boy) having traits, tastes, habits, etc., traditionally considered feminine, as softness or delicacy.
2. characterized by excessive softness, delicacy, self-indulgence, etc.: effeminate luxury

You were referring to soft, delicate straight men that watch her show. Right.

I'm not trying to pick on you here, but it was a poor choice of words. We both know which type of man the term "effeminate" is generally associated with, so let's not go there man.

I guarantee you that the loss of the Oprah Winfrey show will have absolutely no effect on my life whatsoever.

Why is Oprah even this famous? Seriously? Maury Povich is better.

I hate that cat. "Talk Shows" like his (and Jerry Springer's) sensationalizes--and perpetuates--the very worst ghettofied versions of the African American and Latino communities, with a sprinkling of white trash for good measure. If anyone's show needs burning it's that fool's.

I want to know the secrets to Oprah's success, how did she do it? How'd she go from lowly television correspondent to the most powerful, influential, richest woman in the world?

In one word? Stedman.

Just kidding.

In all seriousness though, I think Oprah blew up because she had this "next-door-neighbor/girlfriend/sistahood" vibe about her in the 80's. She just was extremely likable and relatable. She wasn't the most attractive thing in a skirt. She had weight problems. But she was smart and showcased topics that few shows wanted to address at the time. Women of all colors could relate to her. Unlike Sally Jesse Raphael and a few other female hosts, Oprah had the ability to sow up all female demographics--black and white women equally adored her.

I actually kinda liked her for a bit in the early 90's after she had one of my favorite rap groups (TLC) on the show to perform.

never watched her show so I don't care. But from what I've heard I think that she never set a good example for people.

She made a connection with women then bought her own show.

Watching Craig Ferguson right now - he pointed out that Oprah's end date in 2011 was the reason the Mayans predicted the world would end in 2012. :funny:

Any bets on who will take over her time slot? I know its syndicated, but one person would be likely to take over many of the spots...Dr Phil would seem the heir apparent, but isnt his rep a little damaged??? Is Rachel Ray still on the air?
