So I've recently read Midnight Nation by J. Michael Straczynski and loved it. I'm just curious if anyone has read some of his other Image or Icon stuff. I'm mostly curious about Rising Stars, The Book Of Lost Souls mini, the Dream Police one-shot, and the Delicate Creatures oneshot hardcover. Anyone read these and can tell me their opinions on them? Are they worth me picking up?

The Book of Lost Souls is good. It kind of reminds me of Sandman. It's a shame it wasn't an ongoing series, because the only arc felt a lot like the opening arc to a longer run.

That's the one I'm most iffy on. I think I remember looking through it when it came out and not liking the art. But the story was good?

The first eight issues of Rising Stars is some of the best comic work I have seen. It probably inspired Heroes as well. The middle eight is very good, the last third is only okay. Still I recommend it.

I second that.

That Dream Police One Shot he did was awesome as well. Too bad it was just a one-shot. :(

I remember thinking it looked cool. I'm sure I'll get that one soon. It's cheap online.

He might be, but I'm more interested in non-Marvel/DC stuff.

You can always watch the Changeling. It is suppose to be great.

Babylon 5, baby!

Dream Police was good and would have made an interesting mini or ongoing.

He has a store on cafepress: The Joe Store. 3 years ago, he started selling collected editions of his B5 scripts. You had 5-7 scripts in them with and introduction that would get longer 70-80 pages or so. It was a 15 volume set, and concluded publishing earlier this year, and will never be reprinted again.

He was also able to get a deal with the writers of the other episodes and they were published in a 3 volume set called "Other Voices". Right now, he has a chronology of Babylon 5 available, where it covers all the episodes, tv movies, spin-off series, novels, comics and short stories set in the B5 universe. There's also a B5 quote book which was supposed to been released years ago, but the publisher went out of business, so that's available as well

There are plans for script books for the spin-off series Crusade, which will include the writer's bible which shows where the series was supposed to go, and plans are in the works to republish his 3 novels.

Comic wise, pick up Rising Stars. It's excellent. I'm iffy on the 3 related mini series, but the main series is worth picking up. And last I heard, he's still working on a Babylon 5 graphic novel

Rising Stars was a real good read.

In my opinion, the 1st and 3rd acts were the best. The story gets a tad "comic booky" in Book 2,but Book 3 was just beautiful, especially with Brent Anderson's art.

All 3 books are worth your time.

I'll have to check those out. I think my local Half Priced Books has the first few issues. I'll give them a shot.

"We now return to the Real Ghostbusters":word:

He was integral to it if you're interested.
