Hey all,

As I hope many of you know, I am in a band Overman. As many don't know, I quit my nice paying comfy job about a month ago to begin doing the band thing full time. Following my dreams, even right into the ground, I have never wanted to do anything else with my life, but have always been conflicted about going 'all out'. I finally broke down that barrier about a month ago, and the feeling is freedom.

I now am able to measure myself each day on how closer I am to achieving my dreams, and it is a wonderful, and many times scary feeling.

Either way, today is a big day for me and I would like to share it with you!

Today we launched our new website at www.overman.info . I built it from the ground up by myself, and would love your critique. One of our major faults has always been product. We always felt we were on to something great, but rarely ever delivered. That has changed. We now have product that we can stand behind and promote without any reservations, and it feels great!

So here I go: Please visit our new website that we launched today. Check out our new music, and check out all of the other media we have up there. We have quite an extensive and detailed business plan, and the dominos are starting to fall. We have a forum up and running (it is still a very young forum) and I would really appreciate it if anyone jumped over there and posted some.

AND if anyone is willing to go above and beyond I'll ask that you be a Champion for Overman, and post a bulletin about us, or start a thread in some other forum. However much you are willing to do is however much I am asking for.

It is going to be a long hard uphill road ahead, but if I keep climbing and working hard that hill will finally crest and when this ball starts rolling downhill....man I can only dream!

I want to thank everyone who has been supportive of me here on the forums and in other places. It is doubtful I could have gotten here without each critique or encouraging comment.

The Future is going to be Great.

Thanks,

Matt of Overman

No love? I promise you won't be disappointed, I stand behind the music...

I wish you and your band the best man. Really hope you guys become as succesful as you want to be.

It seems like you have recently read a book or attended a seminar on positive thinking, as you repeat, "The future is going to be great."
The future may not be great though, in fact, the only thing we know for sure is that we're going to die and most likely, never see the people we love, ever again, no matter what. Sounds sucky to me.

I like your attitude, of promising not to disappoint, and standing, proudly behind your music.
I can't stand people who are humble or sheepish about their bands.
If you don't think it's freaking awesome, why should I give a **** ?

However, I did not like the music. Way too mellow. It reminded me of the Grateful Dead, when they were all sober.

I liked your mission statement thing about wanting to provide the best entertainment you can muster.
But if that was the best you can muster, we must have profoundly different ideas about entertainment.
I just saw some plain-looking dudes pretty competently playing a little song, that sounded very happy, yet ball-less.
No motion, showmanship, nothing taking me off guard.
It was really predictable, mellow and sterile, and harmless.

I am sure you will be able to find lots of people who are into that stuff though, with time.

I couldn't be bothered to follow a link and listen but I think it's great what your doing . You just have to get out there , promote your material and hopefully enough people will like it to sell records. If you have a myspace dont be one of those bands that requests people , it's kind of annoying . The best way to promote is to do gigs whenever you get the chance.

I agree with Wilhelm....I'm sure you'll be a splash with the easy-listening crowd

I always find it extremely refreshing to see people actually follow their dreams, really. Think about the loops we run around in our lives, all in the pursuit of money. This isn't what life is all about. If you have to sink with your ship then so be it, but to put your dreams aside for the sake of the comfort money and a well paying job brings is a big mistake.

You'll only live one single time, that is it for us all. To a lot of folks it may be depressing, but that is because they aren't enjoying their lives to the fullest, and so they hope for something more after the "struggle."

And yea, I'm feeling the laid back feel. Particularly the feel of "Mellow Man."

I went the website, casue I'm always up for listening to some good tunes. it looks like your haveing a good time doing what your doing

Good luck, Overman. I'm always happy to hear about people doing what they love. :word: I hope if you make a living at it you'll be content and consider yourself a success. And don't pay any attention to Wilhelm-the-fuddy-dud. You should see the guitar he used to play. :whatever:

Er...are you talking about the '74 Gibson Gold Top, the Blue Paul Reed Smith...

...or the Strat with the mirrors all over it?

They were all very nice guitars.
Though I really like my current Variax 700:

...and my white Epiphone that I had converted into a fretless:

But topping them all is the $2,200 Gibson Classic 1960 re-issue I just got, which looks like this:

But I hardly see how it's relevant as I could play the worst guitar ever built and it wouldn't make Overman's band any more entertaining, nor would it alter my musical taste.

If I had the energy, I'd so create an animated Wilhelm-jamming-on-a-guitar gif...

... but I can't be bothered. :csad:

No, that looks more matted, like the fur of an oily street mutt.
Mine actually was the same stuff as when you buy a Muppet doll. Spikier. It was as if made out of the scalps of Berts and Ernies.
