:lmao: Maybe we all deserve the consequences of the financial crisis fallout :lmao:

Do we really need a hundred thousand threads devoted to this stupid bailout and the various consequences of it?

Psyche.

I totally baited you there, because it isn't even about the bailout plan!

it has nothing to do with the bailout

just an off remark :o

Sorry.

Let me rephrase that:

Do we really need a hundred thousand threads devoted to the financial crisis and the economy?

Psyche times two!

I totally baited you with than one too, since it isn't about the financial crisis or the economy!

Oh, even better: A thread devoted to Obama supporters supporting Obama because he's black.

Nevermind.

But my comments still stand, considering there are way too many threads about the economy.

But feel free to post them anyway, because we are an equal opportunity community here, and the new and improved Darthphere has shown me that we should love everyone's contributions to this forum no matter how much we disagree with them!

 x infinity.

Maybe Demogoblin's race thread but his premise is so much more different

badgonegood is a completely different topic, its socio-political impact of a black president...

Most of the economic issue stuff is consolidated into one thread

The 41 Trillion Dollar question is about veracity and whether it's realistic

The 95 Illusion thing, was more about a slight of hand issue

Or the Obama thread, where this issue has been discussed hundreds of times.

But again, while I personally object to this having its own separate thread, I totally tolerate your contributions :yay:

The 41 Trillion Dollar question is about veracity and whether it's realistic

Still related to the financial crisis and the economy. Not to mention the Obama tax plan thread, which could have been put in the Obama thread.

But again, subject to my own opinion, and if you feel this deserves its own separate thread-- why, who am I to criticize?

Oh, and be advised, all of my posts in this thread are out of love

The sort of love parents show towards their children when they spill grape juice on the new beige carpeting in the living room-- but love none the less.

Wait, What's the point of this thread again?

To be honest, I intended this to be more about the dissonance between policy and emotions towards a candidate, then the fact that blacks vote for Obama. I might edit the top thread to include something similar in regards to McCain - if I can find any.

Just giving a heads up.

Goldman is recommending Credit Default Swaps against:

New Jersey
California
Florida
Nevada
Ohio
Wisconsin
Michigan
Illinois
Massachusetts
Connecticut
Hawaii

Basically big tax hikes, cutting tons of services, job losses and foreclosures. If any of you guys have a chance to get out of the situation... consider it - hence heads up.

How many of those states have a state income tax?

I believe Florida is the only one that doesn't on that list.

List of States without income tax via wikipedia:

Alaska – has a state corporate income tax

Florida – has a state corporate income tax. Once had tax on "intangible personal property" held on the first day of the year (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, money market funds, etc.) but was abolished at the start of 2007. The Florida Constitution explicitly prohibits a personal income tax.

Nevada has no personal or corporate income tax. Nevada gets most of its revenue from gambling taxes.

New Hampshire has an Interest and Dividends Tax of 5%, and a Business Profits Tax of 8.5%.[4]

South Dakota – has a state corporate income tax on financial institutions.

Tennessee – does have tax on income (at a 6% rate) received from stocks and bonds not taxed ad valorem (Tenn Const Art II, §28). The Tennessee Supreme Court has held that a personal income tax is unconstitutional. [Evans v. McCabe]

Texas – in May 2006, passed a franchise tax on businesses (sole proprietorships and some partnerships are exempt). The Texas Constitution places severe restrictions on passage of a personal income tax and use of its proceeds.

Washington – has a Business and Occupation Tax (B&O) on gross receipts, applied to "almost all businesses located or doing business in Washington." It varies from 0.138% for splitting dried peas to 1.6% for bigtime gambling.[5][6]

Wyoming

-----------------------------------------------------------

Basically Florida and Nevada on that list (w/o income tax, rest do)

Actually Connecticut's was suppose to be temporary...in like 1991. I'm a resident of that state but at school in New York, should be interesting however since I graduate in May and a broadcast journalism job right out of college isn't a certainty

I think Goldman Sachs largely influences and/or runs our economy.
Neel Kashkari was great at deflection in front of the Congress.

The Hall Income Tax only applies to interest and dividend income that exceeds $1,250 for single or $2,500 for joint filers (the amount of exemption claimable on the return).

I love living in a state with no state income tax. I'll gladly take a higher sales tax (9.25% in the county I live) over an income tax.

So it looks like Nevada and Florida are the only two in peril that don't have a state income tax........

Interesting....

Interesting....
And, Nevada and Florida economies are almost wholeheartedly supported by Tourism. Since the Tourists can't afford to come to these states, they lose out on the Taxes.

Yep........and cost of living is outrageous in these states as well.

Tell me about it. I used to live pretty high on the hog in Ohio, but now that I'm in Florida, it ain't cheap. But, the Beach is nice...

Nevada's Gambling Revenue must have dropped a ton.

I am expecting California to be one of the first to get hammered during this recession/depression or whatever-you-want-to-call-it. They are also ground zero of all those securitized mortgages. Despite all this, I can't believe those idiots want to spend 10 billion on a rail train still after all this budgetary problems. And to think people consider this state the "America's future"... maybe they are right, but not in the way most want it to be.

No offense to any of the Californians reading. :o
