No seriously. I've always been interested in ceremonies of Jewish tradition so I attended once a traditional passover ceremony performed in the traditional style (except for the gentile that was hanging out with them) It was very interesting and the food was very tasty.

On Christmas Day, there are "Merry Christmas" threads, on Halloween, there are "Happy Halloween Threads".

There is no reason not to have a "Happy Passover" Thread.

You know I didn't really expect there to be so much discussion about whether or not this relatively quiet and harmless religious ceremony is offensive. Seriously I know that most of us are joking, but still. It seems weird that the topic almost immediately went to that.

I hypothosize that it will not. Passover is a much less well known holiday and it's religious significance is probably greater than modern Easter celebration (I mean you don't have the passover rodent coloring matza do you). I say that most people will say, "Happy Easter!" for a few pages and then someone will go off about how commericalized the holiday is and then some atheists will go off about how it's based in paganism. Then one person will get an infraction and then another. Eventually it'll be a religious debate and Matt will make everyone play nice or close the thread.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

It's not strange or unexpected to me.....so many of the children here think that attacking religion gives them some kind of street cred. It's so much better to be an obnoxious whiner and complainer than to take a minute out of your day and wish someone else good thoughts.
