Pat Hingle Dies

I mean say what you will about his rendition of Gordon, but I LOVED him under Burton's direction. Sure Bob Hastings and Gary Oldman have more, shall we say, competant handlings on the character...But Hingle was still great, IMO.
Blame the writing.

RIP Mr. Hingle.

An excellent actor...

God Bless him...

R.I.P Pat, he wasn't exactly the most accurate Gordon, but that wasn't his fault.

R.I.P Pat... :csad:

A great actor and the Comissioner Gordon of my childhood! (minus Bob Hastings of course).

Despite the writing... he made a great contribution to us bat-fans!

MY Heart goes out to the Hingle Family. This is the Comissioner Gordon I grew up with and I'm sad to see hiss passing.

I hate to bring this up or anything but is Micheal Gough still alive?

Man, this is sad. He had a long career. The first movie I remember seeing him in was Hang'em High with Clint Eastwood.

Heath Ledger. Eartha Kitt. Pat Hingle. Big losses for the Bat movie world.

Big losses for the Bat world more accurately. Heath Ledger and Pat Hingle both appeared in Batman movies, but Eartha Kitt was only in the TV series.

I liked him as Gordon to. He was a part of my introduction into the mythology via "BATMAN" and it's just going to be heartbreaking when the remaining members of that cast start dropping off...Michael Gough, Lee Wallace, Jerry Hall, etc...

R.I.P. Pat. We're gonna miss you, man.

Michael Gough is 95, Lee Wallace is 78, Jerry Hall is only 52. Unless she's ill, I wouldn't say you have to worry about her for a good long while.

RIP, Pat. He will be missed.

And, not to sound insensitive, but I'm somewhat surprised Michael Gough is still around. The dude is nearly a century old. I wont be all that surprised if he's the next to go. :csad:

Probably.

Yep.

Rest In Peace, Pat Hingle.

R.I.P. Pat, you will be deeply missed. Though he was underused as Gordon, I still think he was great in the first movie, especially how he stood up to Eckhart "I'm in charge here not Carl Grissom !"

That, coupled with his reaction to hearing that Eckhart was running the bust, led me to think he either knew or suspected that Eckhart was dirty. It's a shame. Oldman gets to play Gordon the cop, who actually gets out there in the action while all Hingle's Gordon really got to do was turn the Bat-signal on & off.

I liked him as Gordon in Batman movies. R.I.P

My heart also goes out to his Family.

I'll always remember him as the older chubby guy who got sedueced by Poison Ivy and then rejected in Batman & Robin. When I saw that at like age 6 I was incredibly saddened.

Poor guy.

This news really depresses me. My dad talked to him a few weeks ago and asked how he was feeling. He responded by saying he wasn't going to be around much longer.

I don't remember him that well, but I remember when I was very young (Like 3 or 4 years old) he'd come over to our house and every time he'd come over he'd bring me a toy. I thought he was really nice. And growing up a Batman fan it was always funny seeing him play Gordon.
