Paul Fusco preparing to bring ALF to the big screen

Well if smurfs, alvin and others can get some success. If done right like say the muppets last yr was. I can see it being a decent hit.

That was a really sad movie. I believe the little girl actually died shortly after.

she did

pretty sure they had a little in memory sign at the end of the show of the girl

As funny as Alf was, it actually was a pretty dark concept overall. Last of his kind, he eats animals we consider pets, early on he drank beer, the sad cliffhanger series finale. It could be pretty decent if he maintains that balance in the movie.

since when is drinking beer considered to be a pretty dark concept?
but I agree, done right, with a talented writer on board, the concept of Alf has potential.

For it's context, drinking beer could be considered a little bit of a dark thing.

Hell yeah.

Alf was more of the "sarcastic guy who cracks jokes but is the last of his kind" type alien though. He drank beer as a sight gag, but it could have been to numb the pain.

Yes, now we're getting into gritty reboot territory. :o

I always felt his wisecracks were a defense mechanism to mask his true emotions.

Seriously, ALF is great. Watched some youtube clips and it's still hilarious and smart.

Ya if they went coneheads like route I think they could hit the adult/teen market good.

For it's context, drinking beer could be considered a little bit of a dark thing.

E.T. drank beer in his movie & passed along the side effects to Elliott & when Steven Spielberg made alterations to the movie that is not the thing he changed but he did replace guns with walkie-talkies. Spielberg didn't consider drinking beer to be all that dark in a PG childrens movie.

The 1996 ABC TV movie with Martin Sheen takes place after the finale. ALF has been kept at a top secret government facility. Sheen is like an evil militant general that wants to get rid of him and two of ALF's handlers bust him out and try to rescue him. Miguel Ferrer was also in it.

since he will be CGI i wonder if they will use the same look. the deign of Alf would be very scary if he was a realistic CGI render. he didnt look creepy scary in the show because he looked like an obvious puppet.

i hope its a PG13 and not PG. we need some dirty jokes.

Saw news earlier wish they where not going cg route. Rather just do full live action with puppet. Only plus is I am glad alf voice and developer is invovled on project.

why would they use in 2012 a puppet for an expensive hollywood movie?

because not EVERYTHING has to be cg. god I'm so sick of cg being used as a crutch by every film. it should be used to enhance. if something is doable with practical effects, do it with practical effects.

and the fact that the people behind smurfs are involved makes me want to throw hamsters in a blender. negative vibes man. negative vibes.

I just found this Thread. I haven't read all the posts yet. And I've gone from happy to sad in mere minutes.

Of me too cg is grreat when its used well. But not everything needs to be cg. Did the muppets need to be cg no the puppet alf is charrming and all that.

Also sure it said smurfs guys doing this which I didn't see. But even so its not like they are doing it own there own. They have alf creator and voice invovled. So in that aspect he could develop something good.
