what does everyone think of this guy, as the joker, or just as an actor in general? I was really impressed with him in the film patient J

ahhhh if its what your talking about, he dosent look bad, but acting Bleahh.

their enjoyable to watch, not great but enjoyable
i've always liked patient j

I think his performance is really good, and its just great to see that comic version of the Joker brought into live action.

Personally, I think Patient J is definitly the smartest fan film produced.

I used to like his acting. And I still like Patient J. But i just finding his Joker extremely annoying. Fan Films never give an original Joker. I'm really sick of really bad Hamil impressions.

yeah it does get kind of annoying at times but i like the other guy in that film better then the joker - simply a better actor

his laugh gets repetative and stupid

I love Patient J. He was the Joker that I pictured in my head every time I thought of the Joker like in conversations or what have you. That is until Heath came into the picture. Now my Joker is sort a half breed of the two.

I find his Joker extremely irritating... He's got the look, but his acting is dreadful.

I really dislike both his look and his acting. He's got that strangely shaped nose and ridiculously elongated chin, and, as for the acting, it was pretty much just a bad Mark Hammil impression.

Not terrible. Certainly one of the better fan-film Jokers, mind you, but it wasn't that great.

I thought this was shot really well for being fan-made. But I guess I am one of the few who don't like anything about this guys performance as the Joker. The Look is good but I feel like some southern convict just threw makeup on his face. Does anyone know where they actually shot this?

Molnar wasn't great. He should have used his own ideas and his own inspirations in order to make the character work for him. Like Ledger, Nicholson and Hamill did. But as it is he is just a copycat with a poor make-up job.

I'd say it was the best fan-film take on the Joker.

There is nothing wrong with bringing the comics' character to the screen, if you are not a fan of the Joker's portrayal in Patient J, you must not be a fan of the joker in current comics.

On that note, I've noticed that these boards are filled with people who are more fans of the movie renditions than the comics, just my two cent.

Great way to generalise people.
The Joker I like poisoned a bunch of children at a fair, shot Barbara Gordon in the spine and killed Sarah Essen in a room full of babies.
Molnar, on the other hand, had none of the menace, none of the pizzaz either. I'll grant you, the production values are top notch, but he, personally, is not right for the role.
Why go to all that trouble just to imitate the Animated version of the character? He had a chance to be a little creative, a little original. And he wasted it.

Oh, that's the Joker were talking about. Ignore my previous posts due to my own blatant ignorance. I could rehash what Ronny posted above me but that would be pointless and redundant.

I guess you missed the part in Patient J, where we see Barbara's bloody, naked body, kills Robin with repeated hits from a crowbar, dances with corpses, and (spoiler) tricks the psychologist at the end and cuts a smile into his face.

...not dark enough for you?

I think the greatness of the film comes from what Joker is saying, too get a peek into the Joker's mind, to find out whether he is just crazy or plain evil.

On a side note, I understand what you wanting originality, but the goal here is comic book representation .

I thought that Patient J was a really good fan film overall, though I think that Molnar was really trying to channel Mark Hamill ... And let's face it, there's only one Mark Hamill. :)

I would have liked to have seen the actor's take on the character instead of trying to be someone else's interpretation.

I think some of you missed the point of PATIENT J.

Some of you didn't.

That's not a Mark Hamill impression you see onscreen. That's actually very close to Paul's natural voice. The Joker's voice being high pitched is not a Mark Hamill invention, it's been done by Cesar Romero, Nicholson and Hamil. And laughing...people, you can only laugh so many ways.

While the performance isn't perfect, I love him. He plays all the subtext in every line, and he found motivations that weren't in the script as well. I'm told he'll be "toned down" in his next outing as the Clown Prince of Crime.

He's just a really mediocre actor. Even discounting the voice or whatever else, his performance is just so lacking.

In what way? If anything, he was a bit over the top in certain sequences.

Agreed.

Is he Heath? No. No one can match Heath as the Joker. But Molnar's Joker was a fun take on the character. And he brought the comic book version to life.

His Joker Christmas Special is utterly genius.
