Paul W.S. Anderson's next project after Resident Evil: Retribuition is Pompeii, an action movie centered on the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius volcano in Naples, in AD 79.

The Script, written by Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler, centers on a young slave who lives in the Roman city of Pompeii and wishes to buy his freedom in order to be allowed to marry his owner's daughter, only to discover that she is promised to a corrupt Roman senator, and that he has been sold to another slave owner from Italy.

As he is shipped off to Naples, the young slave witnesses the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and uses it to his advantage, escaping and making his way back to Pompeii to rescue the woman he loves and also his best friend, a gladiator locked up at the city's Coliseum, before the city is completelly destroyed by the volcano's aftermath.

Pompeii is being produced by Constantin Films, and is expected to start filming between March and May, in 2012. There is no cast yet, but selection is expected to begin in a few weeks. The movie is currently looking for distribuitors at the American Film Market, and could be released in the end of 2012.

I already hate the font and color scheme. Sheesh, is it so much to ask to have these movies emulate the big budget giant amount of extras flicks like Ben-Hur and the numerous Hercules movies of the 1950s and 60s, especially in looks.

Kit Harrington(Game Of Thrones) Cast In POMPEII
"Game of Thrones" star Kit Harington is in negotiations to star in Paul W.S. Anderson's "Pompeii," a period disaster movie chronicling the 79 A.D. eruption of Mount Vesuvius that is being financed and produced by Constantin Film.
Lionsgate/Summit is handling U.S. distribution for the pic, which follows Milo (Harrington), the slave of a shipping tycoon who dreams of the day he can buy his freedom and marry his master's daughter. What Milo doesn't know is that she's already been promised to a corrupt Roman senator, while he's been sold to another owner in Naples. Just when things can't get any worse, Mt. Vesuvius erupts, prompting Milo to head back to Pompeii to rescue his love and his best friend, a gladiator who's trapped in the city's coliseum.

Anderson and Jeremy Bolt are producing "Pompeii" through their Impact Pictures banner along with Robert Kulzer and Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin Film. Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler wrote the script, which was revised by Julian Fellowes.

Harington, who plays Jon Snow on HBO's "Game of Thrones," recently starred in "Silent Hill: Revelation" and will soon be seen alongside Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore in WB/Legendary's "The Seventh Son." He also voices one of the lead roles in DreamWorks Animation's "How to Train Your Dragon 2," which Twentieth Century Fox will release on June 20, 2014. He's repped by CAA, Parseghian/Planco and Jackoway Tyerman.

After Silent Hill, Kit needs a new agent. He lucked out with Games of Thrones.

Lasers... and at least one corridor-hallway where Kit can slide on his knees in slow motion.

For God's sakes, I don't even think Paul WS Anderson can pronounce 'Pompeii'.

Well... he didn't write it. His original title must've been Pump-It-Up and the writers corrected it.

The twist in this movie will be that Predator's were responsible for the destruction of Pompeii.

luck for Kit Harrington he's in Game Of Thrones, if not this is career suicide. shame too because i like him as an actor.

Well, interesting piece of history tainted with crappy story and awful director. Pass.

So this is pretty much Titanic but with Volcano's, right? That teaser image looks like something straight off a SyFy original film.

Pompeii Revolution IN 3D!

Well I guess this will spawn 6 terrible sequels. One of them will involve a Pompeii survivor who has survived 5 movies but finds out it was all in her mind. Now she must fight a pompeii creation created by the Umbrella corporation.

Cripes I hate the Paul Thomas Anderson and Paul WS Anderson confusion I always have. I was really excitied when I thought it was from the director of There Will Be Blood and Boogie Nights

I am a sucker for Peplum count me in ( but not in theater :p ).

Can't Paul W.S.Anderson make another movie like Event Horizion. That movie was actually good.

I constantly do that mix-up myself. Well, with Paul T. and a good story this could've been good since it's an interesting piece of history.

Jared Harris ("Mad Men," Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) has been cast in Paul W.S. Anderson's period disaster movie Pompeii, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. He joins Emily Browning and Kit Harington in the Summit Entertainment project.

Based on the world's most famous volcanic eruption, Pompeii centers on Milo (Harington), the slave of a shipping tycoon who dreams of the day he can buy his freedom and marry his master's daughter, Flavia (Browning).

Harris, best known for his role on "Mad Men" and for starring as Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, will play the part of Lucretius, master of Milo and father of Flavia.

Financed and produced by Constantin Film, the movie will be distributed by Lionsgate/Summit in North America.

Anderson and Jeremy Bolt are producing through their Impact Pictures along with Robert Kulzer and Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin Film. Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler wrote the script, which was revised by Julian Fellowes.
