PC Half-Life 2...help! (Steam)

Ok. so I have HL2, but while the game is loading, a window comes up saying "Steam server lost", and then it closes. I REALLY need help...please?

Check the Steam/Valve site. I don't know why Valve uses it. It is absolute trash and messes up all other game files connected to it everytime something is updated

And I laugh at how it's for "security". What a big joke. Though I don't think I'm allowed to get in to specifics (I like this account I've had on here for almost 4 months. Oh PPP, how I miss thee )
