Atlus has released the English voice introduction trailer for Persona 5 character Haru Okumura, as well as a video interview with her voice actress, Xanthe Huynh.

Here’s Atlus’ rundown of Haru:
You wouldn’t think that the obedient daughter of an affluent business man would be rebellious, but Haru Okumura is a passionate member of the team. Although she grew up with all the elegance and splendor that money could buy, it came at the cost of her freedom. A gilded cage is still a cage, and she grew up always being told what to do, how to think, and was raised to simply be an obedient girl. However, getting mixed up with the Phantom Thieves will help her learn how to break out and fly free. Codenamed Noir, Haru is a kindhearted person who truly wants to change the world for the better and ensure that justice always prevails.
Persona 5 is now available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan, and will launch in North America and Europe on April 4.

P5-Confidant-Trailers_12-19-16.jpg

Atlus has released a new set of Persona 5 trailers introducing the next three Confidants, characters that players will build and maintain relationships with to unlock special skill bonuses, useful services, and more.
Get the trailers below.

Hifumi Togo

[YT]pDpOo7Gp39U[/YT]
It’s never a good idea to go out Phantom Thieving without some sort of plan, but luckily the team can learn all about strategy from the brilliant, and beautiful, Shogi player Hifumi Togo. Spending time playing Shogi with Hifumi will help develop useful abilities to use during battle, such as swapping out members mid-fight, fleeing from ambushes, and more! There’s a lot to learn from a grandmaster such as herself, plus it’s amusing to watch her get insanely competitive during games.

Sadayo Kawakami
[YT]Bi-8eOZHns4[/YT]

Sadayo Kawakami is the protagonist’s homeroom teacher at Shujin Academy… who also secretly moonlights as a maid. She doesn’t want her side job to be made public, so to keep it a secret she strikes a deal with the protagonist: She’ll let him slack off in her class in exchange for his silence. While this may not seem like a big deal, IT TOTALLY IS! Having to freedom to slack off gives the protagonist extra time for important endeavors like reading books, creating infiltration tools, or sleeping. Oh, and she can cook and clean for you if you pay for it (maid outfit included).

Toranosuke Yoshida

[YT]KhU4pLxFQ08[/YT]
Finding an honest politician is like finding a needle in a haystack, but Toranosuke Yoshida is a public servant who genuinely cares for the people. He may not have the most successful track record, but he’s a humble man who certainly doesn’t lack confidence. Toranosuke can be found at Shibuya Station Square giving rousing sermons about changing the corrupt system and protecting Japan’s future. While his words fall on mostly deaf ears, the protagonist can spend time with him to learn the invaluable art of speech. Developing a silver tongue will unlock negotiations skills in battle, such as being able to ask for more money or items from enemies.
Persona 5 is now available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan, and will launch in North America and Europe on April 4.

The above tweet asks “do you believe in the Phantom Thieves of Hearts?” with the three choices of “I do believe,” “I don’t believe,” and “My heart has been stolen.” Of this writing, the top is at 45%, middle at 11%, and bottom at 44% out of 13,078 votes.

What makes this interesting is that Persona 5 has already been out in Japan since September 15, so this is pretty out of left field for Japan. Either that, or someone over at Atlus began celebrating New Year’s a bit early.

Persona 5 is available in Japan for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The game is headed to North America and Europe on April 4, 2017.

Infiltrate Palaces to change evil hearts.

P5-Palaces-Trailer_01-17-17.jpg

Atlus has released a new trailer for Persona 5 introducing the game mechanics of the RPG’s “Palace” dungeons.

Here’s a brief overview of Palaces, via Atlus:
While the Phantom Thieves keep up their guise as normal Japanese high-schoolers during the day, they travel to another world (via smart phone) to unleash their true Personas and raise some hell at night. This world is known as the Metaverse, and it’s essentially the “collective unconscious” of all mankind. In the Metaverse, the most distorted desires of people manifest themselves as Palaces, and it’s up to the Phantom Thieves to infiltrate and defeat the evils within a Palace.

In order to enter a Palace, the team picks a target, figures out certain key bits of information, and plugs it into their Metaverse Navigator app to gain access. Once the thieves are in the Palace, they must fight hordes of Shadows, solve puzzles, defeat the Palace ruler, and steal the target’s deepest darkest desire (which takes the form of Treasure, naturally). When the Treasure is stolen, the target’s heart will be changed and they’ll finally understand the evilness of their core desire. Every target in the game will have a Palace with a different look and theme, so be prepared to see some truly twisted stuff! Unfortunately for the Phantom Thieves, infiltrating a Palace is anything but easy. The team will need to use stealth and plan their moves wisely to ensure a successful heist. Sneaking by and/or ambushing Shadows is essential to reaching the Palace Treasure, so be sure to always make the first move. If the Thieves get caught too many times, they’ll be kicked out of the Metaverse and can only return the next day (always keep an eye on the security meter)!

So what do you do once you’ve challenged a Shadow to a fight? The easy answer is to send them to Shadow hell with a variety of attacks, but sometimes a more “diplomatic” solution would be more beneficial in the long run. You can Hold Up Shadows to negotiate with them to yield money, items, and even a chance to avoid a battle entirely. Oh, and this time around the protagonist can even convince them to join the Phantom Thieves to be utilized as a Persona! Of course if you’re more of a shoot first ask questions later type of person, feel free to destroy all the Shadows. We’ve even included the Baton Pass feature that lets an attacking party member switch turns with another character to maximize attacking weaknesses!
Persona 5 is now available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan, and will launch in North America and Europe on April 4.

Atlus has released a new set of Persona 5 trailers introducing four more Confidants, characters that players will build and maintain relationships with to unlock special skill bonuses, useful services, and more.
Get the trailers below.
Shinya Oda
[YT]zGusH2COGLY[/YT]
If you had to practice marksmanship in a country that has a strict firearms ban, where would you go? If you answered with “the arcade,” ding ding ding you’re absolutely correct! Oh, and it just so happens that a certain arcade in Akihabara is home base to one of Japan’s most accomplished shooting game players, Shinya Oda. This pint-sized gaming prodigy is a grandmaster at “Gun About,” so he definitely knows a thing or two about shooting. Spending time with him can help the Phantom Thieves learn some nifty gun skills that can be used in battle, such as the ability to enter a gun-based All-out Attack after a successful ambush with Bullet Hail, scare enemies during negotiation with Warning Shot, and much more!
Ichiko Ohya

[YT]vbIYXip5m0g[/YT]
When she’s not busy chasing a lead, journalist Ichiko Ohya can be found enjoying a drink (or two or three or four or five) at the Crossroads Bar in Shinjuku. So why would the Phantom Thieves want to work with a pesky reporter? Simply put, they have a special “deal.” The protagonist supplies her with interesting tid-bits about the Thieves, and she’ll write articles about them. The public is going crazy for more news about the mysterious masked group, so why not just let Ichiko give it to them? Besides, having more fame/infamy is great for the team’s street cred. Oh, and she’ll also provide useful abilities like making it harder for the security level to fill during Palace heists.
Chihaya Mifune
[YT]598bJJCXI-0[/YT]
It’s ALWAYS smart to see a fortune-teller from time to time, and luckily the Phantom Thieves know a very good one named Chihaya Mifune. Operating out of her modest office (a table) in Shinjuku, the spacey Chihaya will cheerfully use tarot cards to predict the protagonist’s fortune. So how does this help the team? Well by spending time her, she’ll be able to perform special fortune readings that can add useful buffs like increasing the growth rate of a social stat or deepening a bond with a specific confidant.
Yuuki Mishima
[YT]_jY54YjHYTs[/YT]
What do you do when a high-school classmate figures out that you and your friends are actually the infamous “criminals” known as the Phantom Thieves of Hearts? Why you make him part of the crew, of course! Yuuki Mishima is a social media savant who uncovers the alter ego of the protagonist, so he naturally decides to work for the group and create the Phantom Thieves Aficionado Website (also known as the, wait for it, Phan-Site). Besides building up the phan base (see what I did there?), he’ll also be able to support the thieves with buffs that increase EXP earned from battle, allow backup members to earn EXP, and more! Wow, isn’t that just phan-tastic? Ok, I’ll stop now.

Atlus Asks If You Want To See A New Persona 5, Persona HD Remasters, Or Other Spinoffs

By Sato . February 3, 2017 . 2:30am What about a Persona 5 or Persona 3 dancing game? An HD remaster of the first Persona? How about a sequel or port to Persona Q? Follow-up titles for Tokyo Mirage Sessions or Odin Sphere?
23 comments Read >

Atlus just started a new 2017 survey for the fans, where they ask fans what they’d like to see, including a spinoff title for Persona 5, an HD remaster of previous Persona games and more.

The main question about Persona series asks if fans would like to see a new fighting game for Persona 5, a board game for the Persona series, an HD remaster of Revelations: Persona, a Persona 3 dance game, Persona series online game, a Persona shooter, Persona 6, a new version of Persona 5 with additional scenario and new content, a Persona 5 dance game, a HD remaster of Persona 3, HD remasters of the Persona 2 games, or a sequel/port for Persona Q. The survey also asks for each of the aforementioned titles whether you’d like to see it on PS4, PSVR, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, smartphone, or others.

It’s also worth noting that there isn’t anything on the list mentioning Persona 4, so it looks like Atlus is looking to further expand on their other Persona titles.

Some of the questions in the survey ask if fans would purchase follow-up titles to Devil Survive 2: Record Breaker, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir.

One of the questions asks what other non-Atlus titles fans know about, and it includes a bunch of popular titles that have yet to release, such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dragon Quest XI, NieR: Automata, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kingdom Hearts III, and so on.

The survey is available to take here, but it’s in Japanese and takes an estimate of about 25 minutes to complete and will be around starting today through February 7 at 11:59pm JST.

Atlus says that they’ve done the same survey twice in the past, and received plenty of great feedback from fans and they’ve put a lot of consideration into it, so they’re looking to hear more from fans again.

The purpose of the survey is to help Atlus create games that can provide more unique and entertaining experience, and they’re asking for cooperation from the fans to achieve the goal.

The Velvet Room welcomes your return.

P5-Velvet-Room-Trailer_02-21-17.jpg

The second entry in Persona 5‘s series of “Game Mechanics” trailers introduces the Velvet Room.

Here’s a brief overview of the Velvet Room, via Atlus:
Sometimes when the protagonist of Persona 5 goes to sleep, he doesn’t dream like a normal Japanese high-schooler. Oh no. He gets transported to a place that exists between dream and reality, mind and matter.

A place where fate has made it look like a prison. A place where sacrifice creates power, and where a familiar face will assist the leader of the Phantom Thieves in reaching his full potential. Get ready to say hello to Igor once again, because the Velvet Room is back!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Velvet Room, it’s a special area where personas can be… played around with. Basically, the room is where personas collected in the Metaverse can be upgraded, turned into items, or undergo fusion. Let’s start with the most morbid one, shall we? Fusion allows personas to be fused together to create a new, hopefully stronger, one.

There are three ways to fuse personas, basic fusion lets any two be fused together, while advanced fusion is preset and require three or more. Oh, there is one little thing I should mention. Your personas will need to be executed via guillotine to undergo the aforementioned fusions, so always remember their noble sacrifice when Velvet Room wardens, Caroline and Justine, lets the blade drop (be wary of accidents though). The third method of fusion is network fusion, which allows a player with online function to fuse their persona with a random online player’s persona!

Besides making heads roll, the Velvet Room offers other fun ways to execute, I mean, manage personas. For example, you can strengthen a persona by sacrificing (hanging) another one to it, put personas in lockdown so they can learn to take less damage from their weakness, and “transform” them via electric chair into a useful item/piece of equipment. You can also register and summon them from the compendium as well! Although the Velvet Room may look like a prison, it’s an important place to invest time and persona lives in. Oh, you can also access the area during the day/night or during Palace runs through a prison door looking portal.
Persona 5 is now available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan, and will launch in North America and Europe on April 4.
