I never played the first Fable...should I consider doing that before looking into this one? Because it sounds intriguing...actually...is Fable on the Backward compatible list? I might see if there's a used copy I can purchase

Yeah, Fable is an awesome game. Both Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters are BC. The Lost Chapters is much better, so pick that one up, it shouldn't be more than $15 by now. And no, it's not really something you need to play before Fable 2, since Fable 2 is 500 years afterwards and is an all new story, but it's still a great game.
