Phil Lord and Chris Miller present: The Mitchells vs. The Machines

the roombas falling down the escalator broke me I was laughing so hard I thought I was gonna pass out lol

The Massage Envy where I work has a Roomba I use to vacuum to room floors after I dust everything, and every so often it gets stuck in a space that renders its sole but admittedly helpful purpose completely useless. Seeing a sentient one in this film tumble over and become helpless like a turtle on its back was so hilarious to me because they’re so limited in what they can do.

They're like mini ed-209's

I really enjoyed the animation style. The only thing I wish these animated movies would stop doing is having the second act end with main characters having a fight and going separate ways before realizing how important they are to each other and saving each other in the third act. It’s become too commonplace.

That's how most ensemble arcs work

The rift is there from the beginning.

I can't really object too much to the director using that story arc as it was pretty personal to him and I think it was effective.

He shared a picture of his mom and dad watching the premiere, both of them crying. Pretty moving.

Yes I still enjoyed it overall. Lord and Miller have yet to disappoint when it comes to their animated productions.

oh and I loved Olivia as PAL she was just so fun playing the evil AI and the whole doing the swipe and poke to Mark's face was LOL worthy

That giant ass Furby would destroy Godzilla and Kong.

This was really fun and the animation was incredible.

It’s funny when British people hire Olivia Colman they cast her as a sweet old mum and when she does work for the Americans they cast her as an angry disappointed mum

I guess whoever picked the #8 spot on that list in particular forgot that Katie is supposed to be a character from a kid-friendly movie. :o

I didn't realize this snuck onto blu-ray last month, so I ordered it and it showed up today. Whoever made this blu-ray cover and insert seems to have had a lot of fun with it. :hehe:

A neat thread on the making of the film, and Lord and Miller's contributions. Also good explainer on why they got canned from Solo.
