Pineapple Express

imo, it was better than superbad
it was fresh, an action/comedy movie.
I mean as much as i like Superbad. I think some of the other Apatow comedies like Knocked Up and 40 year old virgin i liked a bit more. But superbad is still funny i'll say that.

this is probaby the first action/comedy movie Rogen wrote.

I thought the best Apatow comedy was 40 Year Old Virgin, everything worked really well in that. Knocked Up seemed kinda mean spirited at times. Superbad had way too much gay stuff in it, that whole scene in the basement after the party, I was seriously worried about which direction the movie was going (especially after the previous penis drawing scene).

Pineapple Express looks really fun, plus I've always been a fan of fun stoner comedies.

Pineapple Express Premiere Live Tonight

Source: Columbia Pictures
July 31, 2008

Columbia Pictures is streaming the premiere for the studio's new action-comedy, Pineapple Express, live tonight at 6:30pm Pacific Time and you can watch it using the player below! Directed by David Gordon Green, the August 6 release stars Seth Rogen, James Franco, Gary Cole, Rosie Perez, Danny R. McBride, Amber Heard and James Remar.

In the film, lazy stoner Dale Denton (Rogen) has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver (Franco): to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop (Perez) and the city's most dangerous drug lord (Cole), he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him. And it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they're not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia; incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both.

how the hell is knocked up mean spirited? I just dont see it

Great, that's all I need. A bunch of stoners being abnoxious while I watch the movie.

You ever actually spend time with stoners? They're not exactly a rambunctious crowd. They'll be too busy staring and munching candy to bother you.

I saw an advanced screening...it was friggin' hilarious...like a new stoner classic you could say.

I usually dont like seeing comedies much anymore, but I think I will check this out. I think Seth is pretty funny, and seeing James Franco in a comedic role is interesting. Franco looks like hes actually pretty funny in this, and its nice to see actors jump from one genre to another..

how odd it comes out on a wednesday with no midnight showings... and only four showings on that day.

i guess a lot of the people surprised by franco's casting in this film must have never seen freaks and greeks. he was on that show with seth rogen and jason segel and a bunch of others and of course apatow was involved with that show too. anybody who hasn't seen it should definitely check it out, it was totally underrated.

yeah probably in the night. Night shows are always fun with other people around.

Aside from The Dark Knight, this has been my most anticipated movie of the year. Can't wait to see it...blazed, of course.
