a second remake of the Roger Corman classic, Piranha 3D is about....piranhas (surprise, surprise)

Actually they are prehistoric piranha who are awakened after being frozen or something and are unleashed on a vacation lake spot

Elizabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Christopher Lloyd, Dina Meyer, Jerry O'Connell, and Richard Dreyfus star and releases August 20th

First thoughts:
If the drunk party kids gone wild that are a constant reminder of whats wrong with are youth don't get on my nerves too much this actually looks like a movie worth seeing. But I highly dought this film will have the same horror effect that Jaws had.

probably not, but it does look like fun.....and what's wrong with "todays youth"?? will they not stay off your lawn??

I saw the trailer on TV and they stole so many shots from Jaws that I lost count.

Actually I am apart of todays Youth I'm still in school. But you don't see me going to a lake for spring break and acting like I've never heard of rules or limits. IMO movies do make matters seem bigger than they are. Not all Spring Break students go wild but the Piranha trailer made me think of the ones that are and how they are giving my generation a bad name so to speak.

it's nice to cut loose every once in a while....maybe you should try it and that stick might drop out your butt:oldrazz:

Like with Paul, I have the screenplay for this as well (I like to collect this stuff for reading purposes, since I'm hoping to become a screenwriter myself, someday). If anyone wants it, PM me as usual.

I made a thread about this a while ago.

Anyway Aja said this is just suppose to be a good fun gory cheesy type movie, that's not suppose to be taken seriously at all.

I mean in the script O' Connel's character gets his penis biten off and you see it float along the water

It's funny...when the trailer showed up before Inception, everyone was laughing.

I'm going to see it...maybe not opening weekend, but Im going

If you actually consider this movie to be good in terms of research for a screenwriter career, just stop dreaming now, you won't be a screenwriter.

Id say its good to have a wide net of writing to look at....be it from a "cheesy" film like this or a masterpiece

I don't consider the script for this to be that good, actually. Christopher Lloyd's character's the only thing I liked about it. Everything else felt generic ESPECIALLY the Eli Roth character. But what pissed me off to no end was the ending.

REALLY?!! They only killed the BABIES? And the mother was THAT HUGE?! That's ********! :cmad: I just hope they changed that last part in the final film, although something tells me they didn't...:csad:

Overall, I give this script a 4/10. Unless the 3-D stuff is awesome, I think this will tank along with SeltzerBerg's new "spoof" movie....

The Comic Con video was pretty awesome. Lots of good Aja style gore!

The French poster is slightly cooler:

And he plays the same character...

I find it hilarious that the trailers for this movie are trying to play it straight, as if they think they can trick people into thinking it's a straight horror film and not a ridiculous over the top spoof. One audience I saw the trailer with was dead silent throughout the whole thing, but then the other was laughing hysterically. I have no idea what to expect from this movie in terms of reception, because I think a lot of people are confused as to what the heck it is. Personally, I'm not really interested in it at all, except that hearing Christopher Lloyd say "this particular piranha" makes me giggle uncontrollably.
