Can you believe this hilarious 1987 comedy classic from John Hughes is gonna turn 30 this month! who else remembers growing up with it or seeing it when it first came out or on VHS when it hit video rental stores?

I saw this movie in theaters when i was 6 with my mom, dad and 11 year old big brother and we all loved it and became a family favorite we watched every november since then. One of Martin and Candy (RIP)'s best performances and Hughes's best movie.

Those aren't pillows!

Great movie.

I love how this movie is rated R just because of that one scene. It's a classic.

GREAT comedy! ^ This is my favorite scene. I lose it everytime I see it.

may fave bit as many of you will agree was the massive F bomb rant at the rent a car lady I laugh my ass off each and every time I see it.

For me this is without any doubt the funniest film ever made. I have lost count of the number of times I've seen it and I literally cry with laughter every single time. Neither Martin nor Candy were ever funnier.

A classic, one of my favorites, a wonderful Thanksgiving Film. The chemistry between Candy and Martin is incredible. And the emotional beats this film is able to hit always work. That ending with Del's reveal still so many feels from that scene.

I still get misty eyed at the ending to this day

Without a doubt. Candy was an all time comedic great. But he always knew how to embrace that little bit of drama, the real emotion. That sympathy. He's truly missed.

one of the main reasons why I love this film is Candy's character has my last name :D

Oh for sure. There is real emotion in this movie. It isn't just a laughfest (although it is also that).

I think this is John Hughes' best film, which is saying a lot especially given how much I love Ferris Bueller.

funny how some of his best films feature Candy as a lead, I love this and Uncle Buck :hehe:

Uncle Buck another Classic. One of my personal favorite Candy films is Summer Rental. Anyone else remember that one? So funny.

even in small parts like Home Alone or Little Shop of Horrors he is awesome, man I miss him :(.

Candy projected a goodness. He was a funny comedian, but he also had that heartfelt touch where no matter how obnoxious Del Griffith was, you totally bought that he had a pure heart. Plus from all accounts, he was a lot like Del in real life.

that bit when he replies back to Neil after his rant at him in the motel room is always a great comeback, he should have gotten an award for it.

This is Candy's best role, for as great as his career was. I hesitate to call it John Hughes' best, because he had a spectacular run in the late 80's going into the 90's.

Did anybody recently grab the blu ray release? I did.
