If they made a Plasticman movie, who do you pick to play him?

My pick: Jim Carrey

jim carey could be cool, maybe doug lones? this could be his breakthrough role.

google's a wonderful thing lol, but alright, plasticman was apparently a felon (not sure, as i haven't actually read his comics) who got released, and somehow got exposed to these chemicals that make him like mr.fantastic. from what i've seen the comics are very comedic, like a combination of silver-age superhero zaniness and the loony toons, taking advantage of the fact that he basically is like a cartoon character, being malleable and what not.

yeah, sorry, i might have come off as dick-ish in that post, s'why i went back and edited explaining who plastic man is. but he really does seem like a great character, i actually aim to pick up some of his trades written by kyle baker. on amazon they have "on the lam" or "rubber heroes" or something like that...which one should i look at?

Plastic Man is a DC character, but I think he started out owned by another company but was later acquired by DC, if I recall correctly. He was fairly known, and I'd maybe put him almost on the level of recognisability as Captain Marvel/ Shazam, but has fallen more into relative obscurity (relative being an overstatement). He is still pretty known and appears in various DC stories, but just doesn't headline his own comic.

Wasn't there talk once of Keanu Reaves being interested in the property?

While Plastic Man is similar to Mr Fantastic, he can shape his body into more complex forms, something Reed apparently can't do. When Plastic Man takes on the shape of an automobile, for instance, he can roll along, just like a car can. The limits of his powers have never been fully explored. Jim Carey did a similar role with The Mask. I'm not too sure who I'd cast, but I don't think Keanu has the ability to pull off some of PM's more zanier stunts.

What kind of rogues gallery and supporting cast does Plastic Man have?

i beleive he fought an evil clam in that show, possible villain for a film perhaps? lol

not gonna lie, i honestly don't know, like i said, i haven't read any of his comics, i just know what wikipedia tells me, and i like it lol. im working on getting my hand on some trades though.

Ohhh...Plastic Man.

I know Plastic Man.

Fantastic character. The Wachowski Brothers wrote a PLASTIC MAN script before they did THE MATRIX.

Who is the gangster Eel O'Brien was working for before he got super powers? Maybe it be interesting if after he gained powers and became a hero, he had to fight his old gang. Perhaps they can get a acid or laser weapon that will hurt Plastic Man for the climax of the film.

It depends what sort of movie this is supposed to be, a powerful story about redemption or a comical romp?

why not both?

That's a tough balancing act, moments have to be silly and serious at the exact right time. I think one of the big problems with Kick Ass is it went from very silly to extremely deadly serious and then back again, making the tone of the movie really screwed up.

Frankly if its going to be serious, I think they would have to go with more serious villain then Dr. Dome, because he just sounds like a forgettable mad scientist type with a silly look, doesn't sound like the kind of guy who can carry a movie. I don't think the villain should be comic relief unless the entire story is supposed to be completely silly. The ruthless gangster Eel used to work would make for a more dramatic story, while a silly mad scientist who who has a bucket on his head is best suited for a comedic movie.

Jim Carrey's the first one people would think of for the character. Personally, I kinda think his time has passed for a role like this. Especially if this was intended to be a franchise, since he doesn't like to do sequels anymore. He's said he doesn't want to repeat himself, and this might be too similar to The Mask.

vvv
Penny - Anna Faris

Penny is the beautiful and slow witted blond who is Plastic Mans love interest. Anna Faris does hot and dumb really well.
