A manga from renowed manga artist and author of the manga hit Monster, Naoki Urasawa. Based on an old story arc from Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy, The World's Strongest Robots, Urasawa adds a different twist to the story making for a great read. While the original arc was basically an excuse to have Astro fight against an even more powerful foe, this rework adds a lot more driven plot with a hint of mystery and it starts with the point of view of a minor Astroboy character.

Not only is this a good read for manga fans but it could be enjoyed by non-manga readers as well. It also has a less anime looking art style than most mangas.

Also those familar with Astro Boy see the comparison between Tezuka's original characters and Urasawa's revision:

You can read the English version as the first three volumes have already been released by Viz and the manga lasted 8 volumes, so don't worry about it dragging on. You don't need to be familiar with the original Astroboy story.

Well, I guess if you're going to steal, steal from the best.
