Point Break remake

...why? i mean, the original is a cool movie, but the story wasn't THAT interesting or full of room for expansion.

Another remake to add to the list of pointless and unnecessary remakes :down The original is a complete staple of the early 90s and a remake could never re-capture or replicate it's vibe.

Oh, this is just sad. Look, I really want to be in a place where I don't immediately roll my eyes and exclaim, "Come on!" when I read or hear about the latest remake in the pipeline. There have been plenty of very good remakes, there have always ben remakes, it's not like it's a new phenomenon - so I want to be fair. And not every remake I hear about is really a lousy idea...but then there are those films where I just can't see anyone bringing anything new to the table, or being required to bring anything new to the table. I see no value or potential in a remake of Point Break. The solution is really easy, though: Unless someone incredibly interesting - oh, say Werner Herzog or David Cronenberg - comes onboard, I won't see it.

Can't they just rip off ideas of movies instead of actually remaking them. I mean the name recognition of Point Break isn't really that huge.

Point Breaks a cool movie.
I think it's both Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves best movie. It has aged really well and is very re-watchable as a weekend movie. Not much point other than can i haz moneyz.

Point Break still holds up as a great movie to watch at any time for me.

This is a very bad indication that Hollywood is going to Hell in a handbasket.I liked the original, but I'll really have to wait and decide on this one.

Wasn't the first Fast and the Furious film pretty much a Point Break remake already?

This is one of the news stories that everyone will get up in arms about because its a stupid idea but the movie will never be made its as simple as that. It'll be stuck in development hell forever.

oh for the love of....

GO F*** YOURSELVES HOLLYWOOD!!!

i'm getting tired of all these uneccesary remakes. and if they do insist on remaking films, why not remake stuff from before the 90s & 80s??

poor Patrick Swayze must be turning in his grave with news that both Point Break and Dirty Dancing are getting remakes

Wasn't Fast and the furi-

Aw, dammit. People said this already.

Granted this isnt the crown jewel of cinema or the particular genre it lives in but its just an uneeded remake attempt. Granted one of the main stars sadly past away but the other is still young and making movies and it still holds up. I picture a hollywood executive who is fairly young probably 35- 40 years old and loved this movie so he figured why not remake it and make the story how I want it?

The only time I consider remakes ok is certain phases have to be met:

- The movie itself is old and outdated
- The stars are long gone
- This goes with the first part but the movie itself can benefit more then harm from an up date.

Take Jaws for example, the movie is still cinema majic and the story, characters and shark still hold up and deliver the fear of not wanting to go into the water. Same with star wars too, it might look old in another 10 -15 years depending on where technology goes and the next 2 generations view on it.

Now take any old godzilla movie from japan, the effects, acting and story are all beyond horrible and the updated version can actually give the creature of godzilla his due and make him terrifying.

might I add that point break is still surprisingly timeless looking?

The chase scene is awesome and the tone is so gritty.

I always knew the general idea of the film and knew Fast & Furious was more-or-less a remake due to what people told me at the time. I finally watched it for the first time a few days ago. I thought it was pretty good.

My only issue with it, is that each time Lori Petty was on screen, I kept thinking of Livewire/STAS. :woot:

I assume to "update" the film, we'll have more extreme sports, some parkour for the chase scene, and "hot" people in the roles.

I love Point Break. How dare Hollywood rape my childhood. No on will replace Gary and the boys in this remake.

All y'all need to quit your bloodcot cryin'!
