Comics Potential Spider-Man/Civil War SPOILERS!!!!

I know some of you are worried about Mary Jane's fate and possible death (as am I) but that cover page is clearly from Spider-Man: Reign which I wouldn't be surprised does depict a future where Mary Jane died. Besides, have people forgotten the November solicits for Sensational Spider-Man which show Mary Jane alive and in a story that apparently takes place after Civil War? Not to mention, considering how much Joe Q argued to the point that he doesn't want Spider-Man any older than he already is--which is why he doesn't like the marriage to begin with--and that making him a widower would make him appear OLDER not YOUNGER (besides, Marvel went this route before and paid for it severely). Granted, Marvel has done stupid things before, but I think cooler heads need to prevail. For all we know, this guy posted this image knowing full well that we'd blow a gasket and probably thinking we'd wouldn't be smart enough to recognize the artwork comes from a series that is in no way connected with Civil War other than it features Spider-Man and is published by Marvel.

Truth is Joe Q spouts a lot of crap..."Fantastic Four A Death in the Family" anyone??....this wasn't skewing the truth.....he flat out lied!!....so I'll take anything the man says with a grain of salt...

...and why do you think the November Solicit is Post Civil War?.....they were both (Sensational with MJ and the final Civil War issue) slated to be released in November....and in the write up they use the term "Post-Unmasking"...they never said post "civil war"

Don't get me wrong....I want to be wrong.....I don't want either MJ or Aunt May to die......but the voluntary un-masking makes no sense (to me) in the absense of losing a loved one!!! ...just my humble opinion:)

how many times will this be that MJ has died. even if they do it, I guarantee it will not be permanent. another gimmick.
they once said Colossus would never come back too and look what happened.
Gwen is the only character who has stayed dead.
But even she had to be dug up and humiliated post mortum.

I hope he does kill mj for one very simple reason. You don't **** with your major earner when they're a bit shaky. Spider-man has not been on an even keel for some time now. JOEY CAN'T AFFORD THE RISK OF ****ING WITH SPIDER-MAN RIGHT NOW. The payoff may be huge in his eyes but can't risk it...or at least that's how the shareholders will see it.

So MJ Get's killed...joey q get's fired...then get's beheaded by a bunch of angry fanboys...we get new EIC...we get dan slott where he belongs on asm...they retcon mj's death in a year tops. EVERYTHING IS BETTER THAN IT WAS BEFORE MJ'S DEATH!!!! :D

I am just a complete friggin genius

Oh, I know full well that he does, but it's mostly whenever he promotes a particular event. Such as "There is no right or wrong side in Civil War" for instance. FF "Death in the Family" is good example by the way.

For a couple of reasons. One is that these issues were supposed to come out at the same time that Civil War was supposed to end (the original date for Civil War #7 was November) and unlike the last four Civil War issues and Amazing Spider-Man (which is completely dependant on what happens in Civil War) Sensational Spider-Man and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man were not delayed. Second, both of these issues show Spider-Man back in his original costume, which means that Peter has gotten rid of the "Iron Spider" look, even though in Civil War and it's tie-ins he's still wearing that costume. And it's been hinted that Spider-Man will switch back to his original costume towards the end of Civil War. Therefore, one can assume that these issues take place shortly after Civil War or pretty close to it's end.

Don't get me wrong....I want to be wrong.....I don't want either MJ or Aunt May to die......but the voluntary un-masking makes no sense (to me) in the absense of losing a loved one!!! ...just my humble opinion:)

My money is on Aunt May, not Mary Jane, because, since May moreso than MJ convinced Peter to go through with it, it's better example of "dramatic irony" in that she is severly injured (not necessarily killed but near death's door) because she naively thought people would react the same way she did when she found out her nephew was Spider-Man, that they would respect him more, when in reality, the public couldn't care less what his real name is because to them, he's still either a hero or a menace and his enemies still hate him.

But I agree. In light of Gwen Stacy's death, not to mention that Peter argued against unmasking for the very reason that he worried about putting his loved ones in danger, that registration never required him to do this, and that it was Iron Man and Aunt May specifically who talked him into this, all for the sake of reminding Peter just how important his identity is (which is something he should've already learned) comes across as really forced and contrived.

anyone else thinks this blows

Already been posted.

And it's not in continuity.

But it's fun to see people freak out over nothing.

A frightening image, to say the least, but I pray that it's not part of continuity.

Good point....actually missed that..

For me, I think the repercussions have to be far more severe than "Aunt May being seriously injured"...... hell she's been dead...seriously injured is an upgrade :)......

....and I'm not saying that because I believe it makes for a great story...I say that because I find it hard to believe that Marvel would go out of their way to show a Peter Parker who willingly unmasked when he really didn't have to...just to have someone get hurt.......People in Peter's life get hurt all the time......and he always lays the guilt on himself.....why write him completely out of character if we're simply going to get the same old "Aunt May's hurt and it's my fault schtick?? .....to me, and once again just my opinion, this whole scenario smacks of a desire to capture the magic of Amazing Fantasy 15 and ASM 121-122......I hope I'm wrong

My opinion, Civil War has zero chance of being a "good" story arc.....it's either going to be "great" and the beginning of a new era of intelligently written Spidey stories, or it's going to fall flat on its face and begin the inevitable drove of retcons.....

....fortunately USM is firing on all cylinders (just read #99...just wow!!) so no matter what happens in CW, I can still get my spidey fix :)
