Damn, its all starting to feel real now! Im still trying to convince myself that it doesnt happen though because thats a pretty big cover to have leaked onto the net before the possible reveal happens.

It all depends on how they do it. If it's a shock kill with no real depth, it'll suck, and I'll be pissed. If it's built up and done right and has lasting consequences, which I'm sure Millar will do (I have faith in him to write it correctly) then it won't be so bad, although I liked MJ and will still be upset but in more of the way I was upset when they killed Tara in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, or Wash in Serenity.

it is, the artwork fits perfectly with the preview pages for that book. This may explain the overall emo tones I'd seen in said pages.

Okay. I really hope this isn't for real. I know Marvel has done a crappy job of withholding info during Civil War, but this is a pretty big leak.

Still, I thought it was too obvious for them to leak the Thunderbolts pages too...

If it's true, then it doesn't suprise me. Also, for the unmasking to hold any meaning whatsoever, MJ AND Aunt May would have to die. Otherwise, it's a very big suspension of disbelief. I mean, Spidey has fought hundreds of foes...for him to unmask himself on national television and NOT face any consequences is just stupid.

People were freaking out over this yesterday when it was posted in a topic. First off that artwork looks to be the exact style used in Spider-man: Reign. That's a mini series, One that hasn't collected alot of buzz at all from readers. You really think that Marvel would kill off MJ in a damn mini series like that? IF Mj is going to die which I don't think will happen....It's going to either be in the Civil War storyline going on right now or a bigtime ASM storyline.

Honestly, as good as the past few issues of Ultimate Spidey have been to me, let them do whatever they want with 616 Spidey. That's what they're going to do anyway....no matter what the fans think.

No. No. No. I can't believe that they would really do this in the 616 continuity...

For awhile now they've had a gun pointed at their feet, firing away... but I thought they were finally questioning the wisdom of COMPLETE self-destruction!

They have made so many wrong-headed decisions in the past couple of years (and have actually admitted it... of course, I'm sure they are chuckling about how they are going to cash in on the recons too...) I'm really hoping they don't have the nerve to do something that would be so unpopular with MOST Spidey fans.

But, if they do - kill MJ - it would be the last straw... the FINAL and greatest offense in a long line. But, I'd be saving the $40 to $50 a month I spend on this character, so there would be a silver lining. For me.

Oh there it is. At this point that doesn't really faze me. We've already had Gwen become a ****, Spider-Man die and do some weird Spidery crap, and having him unmask.

My opinion is they shouldn't have married in the first place, but now that they have the writers should just roll with it. Being a widow is not going to age him any less, and MJ ruining the SPidey saga is just a scapegoat for writer's block more than likely.

With the MJ thing I don't think it's necessary to kill her, but they should make it somehow he's not married to her anymore.

Killing of Silver Age characters should be completely against the rules at Marvel, imo...unless handled in such a way as Brubaker handled the "Death" of Foggy Nelson, which turned out to be something else entirely, and completely served the overall story...

Here's hoping this is not set in current continuity.

Oy. Bad writing. I'm thinking this is pretty official. I mean the art is indistinguishable enough to be from Civil War or Marvel Knights IMO. Most likely Civil war though. So they do this and they have stabbed the character in the heart. Because by the time next summer ends (and the hype for the third Spidey movie dies down) they'll have him leave grief and start dating again. Probably a fling with the Black Cat before they bring Gwen Stacy back or some other stupid thing then.

I just hope that if they kill MJ off they'll rarely use Gwen's death as his driving force. That they'll use MJ instead. I also hope there's a small period of dark spidey, possibly with a return to the black costume (and maybe even a short return to the symbiote). This death has to be handled properly if it occurs in 616. If it's Reign then sign me up! Looks interesting
