If this is true, I'm on board. To begin the panel, Bendis emerged with a platter full of leftover sandwiches from the Todd McFarlane panel earlier in the day. He announced that anybody who asked a good question would receive a McFarlane sandwich. Those in attendence were treated to a whole slew of announcements coming from McCann, who first treated the crowd to a view of some pictures of Bendis compared side by side with pictures of Ernie from Sesame Street.
• Secret Invasion #4 will be releasing on July 7.
• Secret Warriors, a new ongoing series spun out of Secret Invasion, will be co-written by Brian Michael Bendis and Jonathan Hickman. "He's a fantastic new voice in comics in the vein of Matt Fraction and I'm very happy to introduce his work to you," said Bendis.
• Following Secret Invasion, the art duties on New Avengers will be filled by Billy Tan on pencils and Matt Banning inking. It was also announced that Banning is now Marvel exclusive. Preview art from issue #44 was shown.
• Preview art for Mighty Avengers #16 was shown featuring a character with a flaming skull drawn by Koi Pham. The issue will explain everyone's favorite infiltrator, Skrullectra.
• Brian Michael Bendis's graphic novel, Fortune and Glory, will be released in a hardcover version in time for the Christmas season.
• A new Spider-Woman series called Spider-Woman: Agent of S.W.O.R.D. will debut with Bendis on writing duties and the artistic talent of Alex Maleev. Whichever character will be in the Spider-Woman suit will be in a "dark, dark place in the Marvel Universe."
• Original art was debuted with a very Illuminati-like feel featuring characters such as Emma Frost and Doctor Doom.
During the question and answer session, Bendis revealed (with the distribution of sandwiches) that he has penned a pilot for an upcoming Powers television show. While the sandwiches were the most entertaining thing aside from the panel itself, a special nod must be given to Marvel writer Brian Reed, who sat in the audience and managed to be just as involved in the panel as Bendis himself.
The end of the panel was especially poignant, ending with a somber tribute to longtime artist and colleague, Michael Turner. Turner's artwork was shown amidst a respectful silence from audience members and kind words from Brian Michael Bendis and C.B. Cebulski.
