PSPhone w/ Android support on the way?

I agree, but thing is, the fact that the PS brand is no where to be seen on it (other than the PS app. and them using the Xperia badge instead, makes me think that this is not going to be an actual PS product. I think it is just going to be a cellphone option for Android and gaming fans who want to have a control pad. I could be way off, but it just looks that way to me.

part of sony suite is a certification process for new games so you get your PS1 emulator but also new games. the NPG (possibly PS3) has access to sony suite games aswell.

There were rumors about a new Call of Duty game for the "Playstation Phone" a while back. That would certainly be a good way to make use of the dual analog sticks. Obviously the new games made for the PS Suite will not be as visually spectacular as the ones on the NGP, however if they are at least comparable to the 3DS's offerings I'd be pleased. Hopefully, since the Playstation Suite is cross-platform it means that there will be enough of a customer base that it does not get ignored in favor of the PSP2. It's two different markets, however there's sure to be a lot of overlap with hardcore gamers picking up the Xperia Play and wanting something a bit more "hardcore" than Angry Birds to play on it (not that there's anything wrong with simple games like Angry Birds!)

I'm going up to London to play around with the thing on the 16th. I know nothing about phones so I gotta do some research as to not look like an idiot.

Here's a slightly unsettling, albeit leaked commercial for the Xperia Play. There is a very brief sizzle reel of some games at the end.

Haha, beat you Tim. :oldrazz: JK.

Here is a leaked demo booth image.

Yep. They have a teaser for it on their Facebook page.

The other night we got a tease from Sony Ericsson, which finally provided us with an announcement date for the Xperia Play.
Since then, most of the carriers in the UK have been announcing that they will carry the new device from Sony Ericsson. Thus far, the Xperia Play has been confirmed by Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, Three, and O2.
This is great news for UK residents as they will have an array of choices to choose from if they are considering the Xperia Play. After months of speculation and rumors, it looks like we're finally close to getting the Xperia Play.

Not sure yet. Some say Verizon and some say T-Mobile. I guess we will have to wait and see for sure. I think they are trying to get multiple carriers like they did for the UK.

I think it should get Multiple carriers hopefully its not just T-Mobile b/c they suck

Would this phone not need as many carries as possible for it to be successful ?

Unless this phone has the same performance of the PSP2, I don't see anyone who is serious into gaming choosing this one over the PSP2.

Well this is going to be out much earlier than PSP2, plus PSP2 isn't a phone. My thing right now is that I want a device that I can tweet from pretty much anywhere, and this may well suit those needs. Plus that would mean I could settle for a Wi-Fi PSP2, not a 3G one.

Well sure if you can afford to buy both of them that's one thing, but if I would have to choose than I would take the psp2, if that has better performance.

Good point. I just figured cause they'd be so far apart most could afford both. Now that I think about it, I won't be able to :S

Yeah maybe, but even if you bought them both you would probably only be playing on the psp2 after a while. I know I would.
