putting downloaded ps1 games on a psp?

ok i mainly use my psp to play the few games i have plus any ps1 games i've got from the psn network

but are these games region locked?. i have a psn uk account as well as a psn us account. so can any ps1 games purchased on my psn us account transfer to my psp.

quick question, i don't own a PSP but if i buy a PSP game off the PSN can i play it on the PS3? or would i need to own a PSP?
