well, it depends on the cell phone company. most times, you can just go to their website and browse the selections and have them sent to your phone.

can you make your own, like I noticed the themes on my phone are midis, I got a ton of midis I would love to add to my phone.

actually, you can. there's a website, zedge.net, that lets you upload files (wallpapers, themes, ringtones, etc) onto the site, and then transfer them to your phone.

Sounds like a round about way. And I've been wondering this for awhile too. Does it matter where the ring tone comes from? Do the companies encode them to only work with the phones they sell?

no, not to my knowledge.

What's wrong with a phone just ringing? Is that so horrible to people?

Well if everyone thought that and only went with the standard ring, then no one would know who's phone was ringing.

sweet thanks!:)

I know .Mac sells some software you can use to download music for like $20. Check out their site, the reviewers are pretty up front about stuff.

you can transfer them directly from your pc to the phone if it has an infrared, usb port or bluetooth connectivity

Well that's not really my problem. I mean really...it's absurd the amount of time people spend on cellphones. If you can't go a measly hour without the need to talk to another human being...that's just sad.

Well some of us actually have phones for practical purposes  I only use mine in case of emergency.
