Just got the PS3 Slim for Xmas. How is the PSN compare to Live these days? In the past I heard PSN was really bad. Has it improve greatly now?

live may be better, but t i think the psn functions adequately, i never thought it was bad, just not as good as live, but the psn is free so i'll take it, and ever since i started directly connecting my cable modem to my ps3 instead of using a wireless signal, i haven't lost connection once

Thanks for answering my question.
I was reading in another forum. There's a rumour going around that Sony is going to charge for the PSN. Is that true?

I can't compare it to Live, I know next to nothing about Live. All I can tell you is I've have had absolutely no problems with PSN whatsoever, as far as the rumor about Sony charging for it - This is the first I've heard of it, I suspect it's just that, a rumor. All I know is that, for now, it's free.

The only thing I've heard related to that is the possibilty that sony might add a premium service option while still maintaining the free basic one, I heard whispers about the premium service allowing for unlimited ps1 classics purchases, among other things, price range anywhere from 40-60 dollars, but all along keeping the basic online service free
