How come when they show an interior shot of the armor, they draw Tony Stark as if he's standing in the armor, with his arms at his side with a bunch of computer moniters in front of him. I thought the armor fit just around his body, like an exoskeleten. What's up with that.
 
It's a virtual control room. Allows his mind to think it's the armor, along with all of its abilities to analyze input from sensors, satellites, etc. The image you see in the comics is more for our benefit than how Tony probably sees it. Cool that they did that though. I'm liking the newer Iron Man.
 
I've only ever seen this in New Avengers.

While I believe it is intended as a virtual representation of how Tony now interfaces with the armor and multi-tasks post-Extremis, some people have questioned if he is in the armor at all anymore.
