April Fools Day isnt until Thursday, so this has to be legit, strange as it sounds. You may recall Rage Against the Machines takeover of the Christmas charts last year, fueled by a massive Facebook campaign which dethroned frontrunner Joe McElderry and knocked the Simon Cowell-run X-Factor off its four-year run of domination. Rage Against the Machines angry, expletive-driven Killing in the Name, seen as a slap in the face to mainstream pop music, charted at #1 during the Christmas season, and Mr. Cowell was none too pleased.
If not for this background story, RATMs offer to bring Susan Boyle on stage during their U.K. dates would make no sense whatsoever, but their request for her presence checks out in its own odd way, as she is now on Cowells record label.
Says RATM frontman Zack De La Rocha:
We love Susan Boyle, she is hot. To show there are no hard feelings we would like her to perform with us on stage this summer. She is a great vocalist and we would love to perform Killing In The Name with her. Everybody knows her in the US and she can add vocals to anything. It would be an honor for us.
Hopefully, this isnt just a prank, as Im sure there are other manufactured pop stars out there much more deserving of ridicule by RATM. Until then, the duet will be left up to our imagination
which may be a blessing, depending on your tastes.
