Raines - New Jeff Goldblum series on NBC

Story is really holdin up.

Welp, that was darn good pilot, and I'm really gonna be watching this every week from now on.

Love it already

I liked the ending, although I feel that it would have had more impact if they revealed his death at the end of the series or just sometime later down the line.

There was a show already like this. It was called "Haunted" It starred Matthew Fox of "Lost" fame as a dectective who could see the dead and they asked him to solve there murders and bring them to justice.

But of course since it was on the then UPN it lasted a whole 3 or 4 eps before getting canned.

I watched it tonight. it was okay. i was flipping back and forth between this and "October Road"

he doesn't really see dead people tho. he imagines them.

It was good, I really liked it, but one thing bugged me and that was how he was so quick to just say the bum was the murderer, though I guess you could chalk it up to him being kind of disturbed and upset with his hallucination and wanting to put an end to it right away.

Yeah, there was a lot of confusion about that when they announced the series.

But I watched it, and I thought it was pretty good. The characters are great, and I think Goldblum's a perfect fit for the concept. His weird mannerisms work for a character like Raines. I loved his response to the gravedigger asking who he was talking to. As for having his partner revealed to be dead at the end of the series' run, assuming the show were to last a godd couple of seasons, I think most people would have eventually figured it out before it was revealed. I loved when he was complaing about appearing to Raines with a cane. :woot:

I thought it was pretty good. It's not that original of an idea but as long as the stories are well written than who cares.

Huh, I only watched the first 45 minutes, because I have a midterm today and I needed my beauty sleep, but from what I saw, I thought the show was pretty damn good :)

Also, as to his partner being dead, I thought they mentioned something about that at the beginning of the episode, no? Where he'd been shot a few times, then Raines made a comment about him dying, or almost dying or something...

I think he said the bad guy took one to the head, but I don't think he went into detail about the partner.

I enjoyed it. At first it looked like a cliched "i see dead people" thing, but it was intersting finding out they weren't really ghosts. He really is hallucinating, and there are zero doubts about that, which I love.

If I had one complaint it would be the overuse of the phrase "you tell me". It's something I know will get worse as the show goes on, since he's gonna naturally ask the "dead people" questions, and they'll have to remind him they dont know if he doesn't.

He said him and his partner took some shots but his partner got the worst of it. Which explains the cane. They could have drawn it out some instead of just blowing it.

Anybody know what the ratings were for the pilot?

bump! Anybody watching right now?

Another great ep this week.

Man I love this show

I didn't see the pilot but watched tonight's show. I dunno, everything is fine but its not my kinda drama. The humour is great but its just Raines imagining things... it needs his supporting cast doing something but the premise doesn't really allow for it. Its missing something. Its kinda tame, I know its trying to be different but hey if you like then it should be good for you.

I'd rather watch The Shield or SVU.
