Rate the Arkham games...

Here's mine:

1. Arkham City
2. Arkham Origins
3. Arkham Asylum
4. Arkham Origins Blackgate

I think Arkham Origins is the best overall - story, soundtrack, villain use, etc. However in terms of gameplay I think Arkham City is the best. Asylum has the best atmosphere, and the honour of starting it all.

Seconded. For that reason I rank them the same as Harvey, Harvey, Harvey Dent;

AC
AO
AA
AOB

I'm one of the (apparently few) who never experienced glitches with AO. So for all the reasons you listed, plus the fact that I like the city and suit design much more than the others (and it was the first Arkham game I played) I put that first by far. I'd follow that up with AA then AC.

1 - Origins: better story and love the Bat suit from this game

2 - City: best gameplay

3 - Asylum: love the confined atmosphere. has the most creepy elements as well.

AC soundtrack is par with AO soundtrack but I agree with the rest.

1: "Arkham City"
2: "Arkham Asylum"
3: "Arkham Origins"

I'm looking forward to "Arkham Knight."

I thought your choice would be Origins by far, J.

In terms of story and characterization it is. But since these are games, AC has the edge on gameplay so it inches into first place for me.

  1. Batman: Arkham City
  2. Batman: Arkham Asylum
  3. Batman: Arkham Origins
  4. Batman: Arkham Origins - Blackgate
They're all pretty geat, but I'm not the biggest fan of handheld games anymore.

Oh yeah gameplay of AC is the best out of the bunch. what's yiur favourite Batsuit? I go with AC Batsuit.

Never played Blackgate, so no soup for it.

I could probably switch Asylum and Origins, depending on the day, but the atmosphere in the initial entry is just so damn good that I gave it the nod for now. The gameplay ranks lesser compared to later entries, but I had a real sense of looming danger creeping around that dank madhouse. Open areas (and better familiarity with the combat system) in the sequels just made it a matter of announcing my presence with authority before I began kicking butt, where I near felt dread at what was lurking behind the next door at times. Wonderfully creepy.

The gameplay in City is so greatly crafted that I legitimately don't know how it could be improved upon other than simple tweaks and additions. Any overhaul or new introduction just seems like lunacy at this point. I love Nick Arundel's powerful score, particularly which it kicks in as a beating is being administered.

Origins does absolutely beautiful work with character analysis, motivation and guiding you to see the coming growth. I also thought Christopher Drake's work made great use of a sweeping score that made nice incorporation of a Holiday motif without letting it overpower the pieces. It flows nicely as you're gliding all across the massive landscape.

We've been so beautifully spoiled by this trilogy... and there seems to be an absolute monster on the horizon that's gonna take us home. Good times, people.

Gonna have to go with Arkham Asylum. Good story, fun combat, voice actors reuniting. At times it felt like I was playing Batman The Animated Series: The Game.

They each have their strengths and weaknesses. Asylum has a great atmosphere and the best narrative in the series. City has the best gameplay but the writing gets stretched too thin. Origins has some really good character moments but has similar story issues and the worst gameplay of the series, so it's below the others.

The gameplay of Origins is fun too but sometimes it doesn't register. For Example, when you countering sometimes you get hit once or twice. I'm like " I did press counter button arggh"

Definitely Arkham Origin's. I love that suit.

That's my least favourite Batsuit in the series.

1. Arkham Asylum (for story and atmosphere)
2. Arkham City (for gameplay)
3. Arkham Origins (for being 3rd)

Arkham Origins is number one. Best story, best Bat suit, best Batman and Joker rivalry, and awesome gameplay.

I would just like to add that Asylum and Origins will sometimes switch spots depending on the game I'm playing. Asylum feels more polished but Origins feels more fun to play.

Currently I'm playing Origins and almost finished story mode. I'm at the last Bane boss fight & Joker left (pretty easy) I done side missions here & there.

Overall because of gameplay and map..

AC
AO
AA

But if in terms of just characterization and stories..

AO
AA
AC

I agree that the Origina Bat Suit is overall the best but it doesn't really matter to me since I always end up using alternate skins the most.

I have not played Asylum in quite sometime, but I never cared much for the ending with Joker. Then City came along and blew the game out of the water with better gameplay, more characters, better story, open environment. However, in regards to City I do NOT like the character designs. I can totally buy Harley doing the nurse outfit in Asylum, that is something she would totally do. But this thing in City was uh. Deadshot looked silly, Mr. Freeze's suit seemed way too technical, complex and over-detailed. I guess Mignola's will always reign supreme. Penguin looked off, the game just has this gritty 90's design to it I never cared for.

I must say it is nice to see some affection for Origins. Yes, the gameplay is lacking compared to City and has some technical issues. But the designs aren't so 90's, the Christmas atmosphere is great along with Drake's creepy and stellar rendition of Carol of the Bells. The fact he was able to make that fit as Joker's theme was out of this world and worked so well. I enjoyed that this is also the Origin of Batman & Joker. What was there first night meeting together like? It even borrows a bit from Nolan it seems, hard not to. The new Riddler take was fresh and I liked calling him Enigma more - sounds more threatening somehow. Seeing Bane in his pre-****** form was good too. And I guess as a Batman/comic fan it was nice to see lesser characters liek Deathstroke, Black Mask, Lady Shiva, Anarky, Firefly etc. And the Copper Head design was great.
