Red (Bruce Willis/Morgan Freeman)

I heard ages ago that the screen play was drastically different to the book. If i remember correctly Ellis didn't seem to happy about it either.

dark comedy?

looks and feels like Burn After Reading. and Malkovich is also in.

This cast is freakin insane. Helen Mirren with any type of gun translates to my ass in the theater, but then they add John Malkovich strapped with bombs? Awesome.

Hilarious, looks fun. I looked up the comic though, seems drastically different.

Is this similar to how they took "Wanted" and made so many changes to the adaptation that the movie ends up being like, something totally different?

Holy ass this looks awesome. Looks like it could be one of DC's better non-Superman, non-Batman movies.

Yea pretty much.

And i don't know how this has a DC logo at the start. It's from the Wildstorm inprint Homage Comics.

Helen Mirren with f'in GUNS!!!!

I.................am.......................there.

DC owns wildstorm so in effect it owns this property hence their logo on the title since it's theirs.

I wasn't aware of just how much I needed to see Helen Mirren wielding a machine gun until I saw that trailer.

Ehm.
Wasn't this movie supposed to be a serious flick ?
The comic book sure was. They have added tons of humor (and characters) into this. It still looks pretty good though.

DVDScreener leaked in a oddly convenient time...

I'll wait til October 30th. This will be then screened at a genre film festival here in Finland. Theatrical release is sometime in November.

wow RED has a great rating on RT.... cant wait to see it now, the trailers looked pretty meh' to me

I will be seeing this Friday. Looks very good.

just saw it... it was pretty good.

from what i saw in the trailers it definitely delivers... but thats about it, nothing more.
Im glad the movie was pretty lengthy, otherwise it would have just been terrible.

It's directed very nicely too... theres one scene where bruce willis offs a bad guy which was just pure awesome... those who saw it no what im talking about.

I would've prefered to see a movie based entirely on helen mirren's character which she plays really awesomely. She stole the movie for me.

dissapointed with what happened to
morgan freemans character... his death was so offscreen and they shot him in the chest.. making us think he'd easily come back.. but no he's dead lol

highclass B movie... 7.9 out of 10

Helen Mirren was bad ass. The whole gun scene & then that one scene where she tells Sarah that if she ever broke Frank's heart she would hunt her down & kill her & all Sarah says in response is something like "awesome"

So far this year the big screen has offered at least four action films , made up of familiar hollywood faces, some have kicked major butt(The Expendables) and some were lacking(The Losers) RED falls somewhere in the middle of those films.
Call the group in RED the S-Team and the S stands for senior.
Bruce Wilis as ex CIA agent Frank Moses at age 55 is the youngest in the bunch,Morgan Freeman(painfully underused!!!) is also an ex CIA op named Joe Matheson,John Malkovich as the sometimes legitamitely paranoid Marvin Boggs, the sexy Helen Mirren, and even sexier firing high powered weapons,is Victoria.
RED is based on the DC comic book limited series of the same name created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner.
Moses is living a quiet life of retirement, but often calls Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker)at the Pension office with whom he has developed a long distance semi romantic telephoe relationship with.Soon some ops come a knocking to take him out,he goes on the run scoops up Sarah, and puts together his old team to find out why he's a target for termination and being pursued by an ambitious CIA agent named Cooper(Karl Urban)
and his cold as ice boss Cynthia Wilkes (Rebecca Pidgeon where has she been hiding since HEIST?)
The cast of RED is classy and cool, and they really do their best to uplift the weaknesses and flaws in the script The relationship between Frank and Sarah is cute and fun,but its nothing we havent seen before in films like Romancing the Stone or the recent Knight & Day
There are a few fun action sequences, and the comedy works for the most part and Malkovich partially steals the show. There are also some nice cameos from some of my favorite actors
But i wanted more, more action, more jokes, more tricks!! The lack of the aforementioned makes me wonder if the producers are just using this film to establish the characters and will offer up a lot more in a possible sequel?
RED is never boring just mediocre for me ,fun but you can wait for the DVD
Scale of 1-10 a 7

btw- Karl Urban is a horrible actor!... he shouldnt have been cast in this movie. His acting was pretty shameful... he belongs on tv at best.

It was ok. A couple of unresolved plot threads, but one of Willi's more enjoyable movies.

So after seeing it, I just have one question...

who the hell shot Morgan Freeman? Was it really just an accidental misfire? Seemed like it was more than that.

the movie has done pretty damn well. It's Bruce's biggest movie since Die hard.
