Action-Adventure Red One - Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans

What are the odds for a Hart, Statham, or Tyrese cameo in this?

I really do like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. But has he had a true breakout role yet? Something that says I really can act and just not play a heavily muscled man that has insane brute strength? Something outside of Typecasting?

The only film that stands out to me in memory without lookin up his filmography was the film called "Faster". I thought that was a great film and more serious tonally.

Dave Batista has had much more range in my opinion (he's not without the typecasting either) but Just wow.

Curious what others think.

Johnson does play within this wheelhouse, not much different than Arnold did in his day. He’s got more charisma and is more conventionally good looking than Bautista, so I don’t think he’d ever take on the riskier roles Bautista might get so it doesn’t affect his image. He’s a brand, after all. Even his “villains” aren’t really villains.

I can understand that. Dont get me wrong. I really do enjoy Dwayne and a lot of his films. Not to mention he was a hero watching Wrestling as a kid. I was all about Sting and The Rock.

Some of my favorite films of his was Faster, Walking Tall, The Rundown, Fast Films, Hercules and such.

I'm just been stunned at some of Dave's work hence my seems to have more range comment.

Yeah, I think because he’s not a family brand, but he also doesn’t need to be the lead. That also affords him to work with more acclaimed filmmakers (which Arnold did in his prime who knew how to use him in the right way).

Johnson is probably not willing to give up his complete control, which is why he doesn’t really work with those kinds of directors. More like Stallone in that regard.

“Hobbs & Shaw meets Miracle on 34th Street.”

For anyone who ever wondered what a mashup of those two movies would be like, you’re about to find out.

Next up, The Raid meets It’s a Wonderful Life.

Good for Evans. But really wanna know what it's about. All i can find is "a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre."

I hope this is just a straight-up action film with a Christmas theme, rather than something stupid like Santa Claus fighting terrorists or whatever. I’m all for action movies set during the holidays (Die Hard, Lethal Weapon) but I doubt I’ll be interested if it’s some sort of “Santa is a super soldier secret agent” silliness.

Honestly, I'd much rather laugh hysterically at The Rock playing Santa as a secret agent than sit through another generic post-Marvel action flick from him.
