IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Watch.

Flanders Field.

How morbidly....pleasant:huh:

it's the fourth series of blackadder. that's set in world war one. blackadder mostly spends the whole series attempting to get out of "going over the top" of the trenches.

But still I sing, sing, sing,

I believe that is for rememberance of family members that have passed....while "Rememberence Day" is set aside to remember the soldiers who have died fighting tyranny around the world.

Monday's Vetrans Day? No school and Flags of our Father's should go good that day.

Just saying since it's a War Drama...or at least a war movie...

Havne't you left your house or wached the news? Maybe it's just an Edmontont thing then, but this year some tree huggers are putting out White Poppies because they symbolize peace, whereas the red symbolized war.

The Vets are all up in arms about it...and I am too.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

I don't want to start a thing here....but yes Canadians fought in Many a War.

We were in World War I and World War II well before the States....We had a war with the stated in which we burned down the white house....and yes we have fought in mnay wars.

We just have a little more intelligence then to waste out time in certain wars like certain war monging American Presidents (ie Vietnam and Iraq)..Though there were Canadians in both Afghanistan and Iraq this time around, just not a huge presence.

Though I bet we go off ot the next stubit war due to our Pissant Prime Minister Stever "America Junior" Harper.

war of the poppies? i doubt it'll live up to the war of the roses.

I'd wear a white poppy before a red one, to be honest.

Either way, the poppy thing is completely lame and I'm sure some poppy cabal is making millions off it.

A tribute to fallen soldiers:

Highway of Heroes by the Trews

You're from Edmonton?

The white poppy thing has been around for a while.
