Dark Castle Plans Their 'Return to House on Haunted Hill'

In 1999 Dark Castle Entertainment got their start directing a remake of William Castle's classic horror film from 1959, House on Haunted Hill. Here we are six films later waiting for their next major announcement, which we have exclusively right here on Bloody-Disgusting. Today we were informed that Victor Garcia, director of the award winning short film, El Ciclo, is in talks to direct Return to House on Haunted Hill, a sequel to the remake that started it all!

Victor Garcia, director of the award winning short film, 'El Ciclo', writes in:
"I'm in talks to direct Return to House on Haunted Hill, sequel to the 1999 remake of House on Haunted Hill. Offical word about it and about the cast is yet to be done and I guess that it's going to happen in the next weeks. Shooting is scheduled to begin in Bulgaria late August."
There you have it, Dark Castle's next film! We'll bring you more details as they come in.

In the remake, six strangers have the chance to make $1,000,000 EACH. All they have to do is make it through the night alive.

Loved the first one, I'll see it.

I vaguely remember this movie, I feel like renting it again just to see if I should be excited about this or not.

Ooh... this is one remake I liked.

Hope it doesn't end up DTV. :o

So many horror sequels are ending up going directly to DVD, like the new I Know What You Did Last Summer 3, Wrong Turn 2, Urban Legend: Bloody Mary (or something like that).

And to put it nicely, they all end up ****.

there making a sequel? i really liked the 99 version so i'll have to give this a look see.

Let me expand...

Why the hell are they wasting their money on crap?

hey who cares its there money let them spend it. it should teach companys not t omake direct t odvd horror sequels.

Funny, I was just talking about the '99 remake yesterday. I like it, cause it has a lot of cool concepts, ideas and designs, but the ending was woefully dumb and just badly executed (the CGI rorschach ghost)...

I agree, I didn't mind it up until that point. It kind of had it going where you weren't sure if it was real or if it was just the effects the guy had going on. But the end was completely ruined and just came off lame.

yeah, i really liked everything about the remake but the ending. it was actually scaryup until that point.

ew... and chris kataan.

I liked the original Vincent Price one...I dont really remember the remake though, saw it once, didnt really leave an impression...although, as far as remakes of Vincent Price movies go, I guess you cant get worse than House Of Wax...so this could be crap and by comparison to that still be decent....

Wasn't the only person who died in the remake Owen Wilson from the swinging lions head? Dont remember it that well, just that it wasnt very good.

That was The Haunting.

And yes, it wasn't very good. At all.

I remembered that "The Haunting" was originally called "The Hauhting of Hill House". They changed it an obvious reason.

The Haunting of Hill House ..vs....The House of Haunted Hill....LOL. Two bad movies, two similar titles!

The Haunting sucked major ass.

Although House on Haunted Hill is a very guilty pleasure of mine... :p

I loved the cheesey Chris Kataan ghost at the end.

What House on Haunted Hill got right was some of ghost effects. Very trippy..

The effects were good. I wonder how it would look if done nowadays.

Sidenote, Famke was very delicious in the movie...

I couldn't make it through the first 20 minutes of this sequel :(

I thought it was all right. better then the Wrong Turn 2 direct to sequel sequel that was just horrible.:csad:

I actually left it on when I went to the grocery store to make it seem as if I walked out of it in the theater ;)
