The Dark Knight Rises RIP Larry Holden (D.A. Finch from Batman Begins)

Just wanted to add something to this... I first became aware of Larry through this forum and his interview at BOF. I wanted to make a movie and contacted him for some words of wisdom after reading he was a filmmaker in addition to an actor. Long story short we hit it off and he ended up flying to Georgia from Canada and acting in my movie just to get some buzz going so I could raise funds and attract a decent cast and crew. That is the kind of guy he was. Willing to put himself way out there to help a stranger. There are hundreds of other examples...

That was in 2005. Since that time he had become one of my very best friends. Like an older brother really... every aspect of the adult me has been influenced in some positive way by Larry. His true passion was his filmmaking and he spent every waking moment working on his films. Acting was how he paid for them. So while it looks like he hasn't done much since Batman, the truth is he has spent the last five years living his dream... making wonderful and strange little movies while travelling the world. He is the most passionate person I have ever met and the indie film world has lost one its most interesting and singular voices. I am still numbed and baffled that he is gone.

:( that's a great guy right there!

That's sad news...RIP:(

Thanks for sharing that story kingdaywalker. He sounded like a good person.

Wonder if his passing will be acknowledged by Nolan, Pfister etc at the Academy Awards? That would be nice.

Just wanted to make a quick post on this topic. When heath ledger died a couple years ago I was one of those people that questioned the motivations behind people that were posting what I considered unusually emotional condolences. This thread really makes me think that I was being kind of a jerk. I'm really surprised by the amount of involvement Larry Holden had with some in this community. It's sad to see that he passed at such a young age. In my opinion he did an exceptional job in Begins. My condolences to his family and all that new him. To all on the hype who have posted on this topic, I'm sorry if what I previously said was insulting. Your concern for Mr. Holden and his family has taken away some of that pessimistic spirit I originally felt towards the boards.

This is very sad news.

RIP Larry.

WHOA!!! I'm so sorry...:csad:

He actually was the only cast member of BB to actually post HERE. I remember having a conversation about his role with the posters here back in 2004 and even dedicating us a custom pic. May he rest in peace...:csad:

Wow i didnt know he did that.... well thats just sad. He was young

Definitely sad. He had great range as an actor and from what I've seen on this thread, he was a pretty amazing guy.

RIP

I knew Falcone had him killed!!! I knew it!

But seriously though, RIP.

What pity. He was in Memento and Insomnia too.

Incredibly sad news, I'm truly gutted, from all of my interactions with him he seemed so genuinely nice and extremely innovative and creative, passionate. Sympathies go out to his family and friends, I have a feeling they've lost their rock. RIP Larry Holden.

Sad to hear, he was a very nice guy, I remember when he came to post on these forums, and was very humble and grateful about the whole experience including us, the fans. Best to his family.

Awww, that's an awesome and now :waa: story. I hope you're holding up okay, and that Larry's family is doing the same. It's always a shame when a generous, stand-up guy passes young...

Very sad to hear of his passing, from what everyone has said he seemed to be a real down to earth guy who loved what he did. Anyone know why he passed?? All I see when I look it up is he had a "illness" but it doesn't go any further into how or why.

He won't be forgotten. Not many actors can say they did three films with the great Christopher Nolan. Rip d.a finch.
