I went to a screening on Wednesday in NYC and a lot of the audience was the black demographic.

Not trying to be condescending or stereotypical, but a lot of them were whooping and hollering. One next to me was just carrying on, it became rather annoying:

"Oh **** son! That big ass mothah ****** is gonna kick some ******* ass!(followed by talk I couldn't understand, seriously...) And this guy was carrying on for so many moments. I just wanted him to stop.

They laugh at inappropriate times. They are just ridiculous sometimes. I'm sorry but it's true.

Sometimes you need that for certain movies though. If everyone is dead silent during certain scenes it can be just as aggravating.

Wow 54 Million and 81% on RT. I don't think anyone expected that. That is awesome, I can't wait for the sequel. I need to see more of Caesar.

I think Apes still has a big following with older audiences. That was a huge franchise for its time (the makeup effects then were as impressive as the motion capture is now). Even my mom wanted to see this, and she usually hates these kinds of movies. It was mostly an older crowd at the show I saw today, and the responses to the nods at the original film were very strong.

I'm surprised it went that big this weekend, but I knew there was definitely an audience for it.

Yeah some blacks see a movie as an interactive experience. lol.

That is true terry.

But I think it got a little out of hand at times.

I got to say it is kind of weird seeing 20th Century FOX turn around while the WB goes in the crapper. At least Superhero Movies wise. Maybe the WB should fire everyone & bring in some new blood

I loved all the nods to the original, none of them felt shoehorned in or forced except for maybe the damned dirty apes line but that is something that you almost have to get into the movie so I'll give it a pass plus it was followed by one of the best movie moments of the year.

The fact that Caesar was not out to get all humans but only the ones that deserved it such as Malfroy made it that much more sweeter

did they show the shuttle launch of CHarleston Heston? I thought i saw a scene where the shuttle goes into space, but later in a newspaper, it states, "Lost in Space".

I wish they explored a little more in that instead of a couple of seconds

i can't believe this made so much money. i guess thats the power of good reviews and good word of mouth. This summer has been one of the hardest to predict box office.

Although Caesar's reaction when that happened made it pretty obvious that he hadn't meant to kill him. He didn't realize that would happen. [blackout]He let Jacobs dies because he had just killed the other ape. [/blackout]

Yes, that was Charleton Heston's ship. They showed enough. Showing the crew would have meant either recasting Heston, showing what is now outdated footage, or doing some creepy CG thing making it look like he was there.

i am not surprised this is good have yet to see it

Wyatt is a good director i saw his film before this the escapist starring Brian Cox it was quite good

Not to mention the fact that the ship might come to play in a sequel.

Just got back from seeing it......wow!

Best.Movie.Of.The.Summer. This is the second time i've completely crapped all over a movies premise, gone and seen it and been totally blown away (First was last summer A-Team).

Awesome prequel to the Heston films and a nice subtle mention of the Icarus and being 'Lost in Space'.

Yes, the cgi lok obviously cg but the Ceasar character is so likable you don't really care.

And didn't give a hoot about Franco or Pinto, or any of the humans. One of the few times a film is completely carried by a cgi character/s.

We already know what happens once the Apes completely take over, so for a sequel i'd like to see more of the apes being tactical, and more of the effects of the virus on humans.....

8.5/10

That too.

And I do hope we see a sequel to this.

I say the final scenes of the sequel could start with text on the screen saying a certain amount of years later & then the pilots coming home

A virus wiping out the human race makes much more sense. It was implied in the Heston films that it was nuclear war/or bomb...which would have in fact wiped out all the apes too.

Also, i was actually surprised at that the audience i saw it with; they were mainly ppl in the 40-60 year range. I mean there wasn't hardly any kids in there. Quite suprisng for a film about a cg character, but then not so much of a surprise based on the following the Heston films had/have.

my favorite scene is when the big gorilla made that
hilarious shocked face and was gasping when Ceaser said NO!...I was going nuts...That ape was the bomb

okay so lets give some major credit here to Andy Serkis...The man is Mr. Motion Capture.

What a gem Peter Jackson found in a actor/professional. He is creating a motion capturing school...Would love to go to that lol

Also for the SEQUEL they should go 10 years into the future...I am sure the virus is getting worse and the world is falling apart and are probably thinking the only solution it to kill monkeys..They probably get the minconception that they are the ones who caused the virus or something.

I'd like to see more of Caesar and how the apes took over first, before they go into what would basically be a remake of the first film.

Caesar [blackout]riding across the bridge on the horse[/blackout] was way too cool. I'd love to get a sequel with more of that while humans still inhabit the planet.

I did say that would happen at the end of the next one

Favorite scene is when Ceasar starts throwing spears into the animal control van, from atop the building, surrounded by the other Apes. Complete badass.
